Okay, so my car is resting over night or while i am at school. As soon as i start driving, i hear this screeching noise when i'm rolling. I drive a little more and then it goes away. And then it happens again all over again the next day or something. So I dunno whats rubbing. Also, my brakes are super screechy. Like it sounds like when your brake pads are old and its just metal on metal. But i just changed both my front and rear brake pads so it can't be that. Anyone got any ideas?

there are two things you can do. 1) is to buy some stuff called break silent and spray that stuff on the back of your pads and re-install them. What this stuff does is act like a rubber insultor to help absorb the vibration from the squeel. 2) you can ruff up your brake rotors with a file so the surface is not as slick.

de-squeel is good too, did you tighten the caliper bolt enough? another prob is if you didnt put any anti-squeel goop on your shims the shims can get loose and rub against your rotor.

well, the mechanic i always go to changed my pads so i dunno what he added or didn't add. Is there anything I can just spray on without disassembling? Cuz i don't know anything about brakes and the last thing I want is to be rolling down the hill and not having the ability to stop.

de-squeel is something u can spray on without taking anything off. i believe its made by crc

i had the same problem... there's a metal clip warning indicator on the brake pads.. maybe they're bent forward scraping the rotor first before the pads do.. anyway, i needed new pads cuz they were already thin and the indicator metal was hitting the rotor.

no, the shims cant jump from the backside of the pad to the rotor side of the pad.

squeel can be caused by many things, the root cause is vibrations. the goal is to dampen vibrations, the blue goop is a rubbery material and works well, apply it between the back of the pad and the shim and between the shim and the caliper on both sides. brake grease works as well, make sure the caliper slides are well lubed and that the bolts are torqued to specs. some brake pads squeel and make noise regardless of what you do.
