Did you guys break alot of tools while working on your swap? Cuz i just broke a craftsman adapter, with a 19mm socket attached to it trying to free the crossmember of my car! I jsut bought it ten minutes prior! Can never trust any tools i guess kindasad.gif ...it was like a $10.00 adapter too..they better replace it.

Liquid wrench my friend. Liquid wrench.
the problem is that you are using an adaptor. you should be using 1/2in wrench and stockets on bolts that big.

i dont even think i removed my crossmember during my swap, but we did break 3 different ratchets a torque wrench and an actual breaker bar wrench on my axel nut.
Well we are bringing the engine out through the bottom of the car,,,so we have to remove the crossmember.

craftsman? they suck, but I still buy them because at Sears the replace sockets, wrench's etc.. for free, if you manage to break them.. happens often enough.

the right tool for the right job goes a LONG way towards making things easier.

for axle nuts you really need an impact, mine are on at 160Lb/ft and had been for 13 years of chicago winter. my cheapo $50 impact zapped them off like it was nothing. same for the strut to knuckle bolts at 203Lb/ft.

I did the exact same thing on the motor job on my truck. All I had in a 19mm was a 3/8 drive so I put an adapter on my breaker bar and a pipe on that and SNAP! Craftsman did replace it. I also broke a 3/8 drive ratchet which was also replaced.

I ended up buying a 1/2" drive socket and I had no more issues. My breaker bar is a Snap-On.

You should never use your torque wrenck as a breaker bar. It's for tourquing only. Like Zacman and Bitter said, Liquid Wrench and the right tool for the right job makes all the difference.
