I may try it since it's free thanks alot

can you still start the car with the key to ?
you can start the car with the key

but i disabled it, so its just the start button now.

My start button is a genuine honda s2000 button so its designed for it so i cant vouch for other items.

ive not had any problems no with power failures etc

1.) Yes if he screws up
2.) not if u live in a big city where ppl can steal your car,
( flat head into the ign. Turn, push and off we go!)
id definately take out my lighter for that. I'm a non-smoker so i dont need it, its just taking up space.

yea I did this a while back to my ST...easy install

Ignited makes them (illuminated and non-illuminated), there are 4 wires to connect.

1 - to all time power
2 - to ground
3 - to ignition/starter wire (black/white comming from your ignition)
4 - ACC power

you can either cut the black/white wire and make the button the only way to start the car, or splice into the wire and have either work. Either way you have to turn the key to the "on" postion.

about $40-$80 depending on what kind and where you get them

IMO the only way this is cool is if there is no key involved, and then your car will get stolen lol so i guess im SOL smile.gif
I guess you could hook it up to your starter kill on your alarm, but it would still be pretty easy to steal.

Hey, it's more trouble putting the key in the ignition and then moving your hand and pushing the start button. tongue.gif

yeah exactly what i thought.. i figured.. why not just turn the key that extra turn rather than reaching down and pushing the button..

i guess its there to look nice. however, nice. it'll look sweet too.

some alarms have kill switches when their activated, so the car wont start unless the alarm us unactivated.. i think
the ignited ones u can find for 50 shipped on lildevilmotorsports.com, im gonna order one soon
can you get a push button starter or a remote starter with a manual tranny, I ask cuz i have to put in the clutch to start the car...

The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?

im not sure for the button. if there are wires or anything. but if its similar to an alarm, you would have to use relays for it.

my buddy had it installed on 1 of his 3000gt's, it was cool, he left it in gear, started it up, and watched it roll away (he did it on purpose)

I always wanted to try that.. but was scared it would stall. So that really does work huh? I'd have to give it a try. biggrin.gif
thanks ill look for those threads

dudes a start button is a gimmic, that is it. If you do it, it is for show and a gimmic. That's it.

well, I have something like that on my 1987 celica GT, but is not a button it's a hidden on/off switch, so before you start the car you have to turn it to on position, if not I won't start ( security purposes ) smile.gif
thanks for all youre replys guys
my friend told me it is way easy to steal and that i should be better off with a remote start but as batman said its a gimmic i only wanted to put it on as a show off piece
still researching
let you guys know whats happening
ok Dustin there is something that I dont understand. Why would you have to hook up a wire to an all time power and an ACC power. Why both? And when you say the black and white wire in the ignition do you mean behind the dash console....or.....? I've been thinking about doing this little gimmick for awhile.

Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........
The black/white wire is located behind the actual ignition, here is a pic (from Coomer's install giude)

IPB Image

I found that it is kinda tough to get to these easily (you have to remove a few dash plastics ect to get good access to it), so I followed that wire through the harness and there is an easy place to access it. Directly behind your clock/stereo there is a wire harness taped up that runs strait up and down. Cut the black tape off and there is the black/white wire with a bunch of others biggrin.gif Just be carefull not to cut the wires when you are getting the tape off wink.gif

I have big hands and getting to that wire behind the ignition sucked for me. Behind the clock/radio, there is soo much room to work smile.gif

about the all time and the ACC, I need to clarify, it isn't ACC (first click, radio on ect..), it is when the ignotion is in the "on" position (second click). Why you need both, I don't know exactly. I would assume for the same reason there is all time power going to your ignition stock from Toyota wink.gif I just followed the directions and also what another member had told me (John - Mynzeyes). It works just fine with no problems.
