so we finally go the head off. the head gasket looks alright.... not good at alll. but no real noticable sign of failure. hope the new gasket makes a big difference.

Hmm no wonder all the Swap How-To's suggests all the gaskets and stuff be changed while the engine is out of the bay.

Let this be a lesson to all!

with the MLS headgaskets
isn't it nearly manditor that you have the the block decked and make sure the surfaces are dead flat otherwise seal is no good?

i doubt it will need to be decked. my dad is gunna check and see once everything is cleaned up if the plane is level or not. also the gasket is supposed to seal minor imperfections so cometic says.

you NEED to check flatness on the head and block after blowing a head gasket. if you dont theres a good chance you'll be doing another one sooner than you want to.

nice... i would have the head checked out or rebuilt while you have it off. it costs a vew bucks, but might be worth it down the road.

oh ...and replace your hose from hell while u got all that crap off.

15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
theres alot i could with the head off lol. but im good. i dont have have the money/time to be without a car any longer. it will run good though im sure cause it ran great with a blown headgasket lol. i bought a new all aluminum race radiator, arp studs, new water pump, new headgasket. theres $500 i didnt wanna spend.

how long did it take you to take the head off? did you have to take the cams out?

15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

i got my head studs in unfortunately i have to wait even longer now cause one of the nuts was defective from arp. it was only the nut with a hole in it. no threads. so im waiting to get that last nut before i can finally start puttign it back together. hopefully in time for Colt state park.
