I need help urgently. I was trying to take off my lugs and all the others are a little stubborn and i see theyre pretty rusted... so i remove the last one and the bolt's thread just came off... this is what i mean...



How does this happen? and how do i fix it? i imagine i need a new hub? can someone help me out and let me know how to fix this? thanks.

get it to a shop asap, maybe they can punch out the broken part and put a new one in, weld it and call it a day, or but a used one from a member.

no biggie, broken wheel stud is not a big deal.
youll have to press the old one out, and a new one in.

thanks guys. i was freaking out. i still am because i have one more lug to remove and the key that i first used to remove it broke and its stuck! i tried needle nose grips and those broke. then i used a flat head screw driver. no luck. i cant get the new key around it to remove it. please reply asap cuz i need to go to work in half an hour. do they sell anything to remove this crap.

did you remove the other 4 lugs before that one? cause thats probably contributed to the issue...put the rest of the lug nuts BACK on and snug them up to help even out the wheel and pressure on that spot...lube it up with wd40, pb blaster and get a set of channel locks and try and pull it out...

BTW why are you using soooo much pressure you break a key?
seriously a wheel lug nut only needs like 75 pounds of pressure or sumthing? breaking a key which circular metal requires hundreds?

the same thing happen to me...luckily I didn't want the wheels and I drilled that mofo out and ruined the wheel

I had a broken stud once. It wasnt hard though, but the tapping the old broken stud out, you have to be careful. I hit it too hard and it messed up the hub some how.
