i think this MR2 looks hella sexy with a chop top anyone car to take a photoshop stab at a 4-6" cut on a celica?
hmmm, im trying to picture it, its a hard one though. It would definatley look cool though.

This isn't a half bad idea...

We all know that with a targa top you will lose handling of the car because of the support that the roof plays, but with a chopped top, done right, it would still have the support that you need.

Can anyone photochop this idea? I think it's very original, and would look very cool.
Cool idea...I'd like to see a Photoshopped Celi with that done.

New Toyota project coming soon...
ok i have ZERO skills but this is just for a RUFF INTERPRITATION
i used MS paint so don't laugh

a little lower, worse background smudging because i ran out of patience tongue.gif

the hard part isnt chopping the car its getting hte background to look real

my opinion on it is that it looks good but makes the front look too big, im gonna try it on a stock car and see how that wouuld look
OH MY GOD THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!

edit: um, what about the windows? how hard would that be to get new ones in the right size?

newest render estimated 3" roof chop

windows you would have to cut the stock ones, or make them out of plexiglass

definitely do it, but i could just imagine how much its gonna cost you. custom glass, o boy.
It's an interesting idea, but I don't know. It looks wonderful on that MR2. How would you drive the Celica with any lower roof? My head hits it now.

I'd like to see this happen, just think about this. All four pieces of new glass alone are going to cost more than your car is worth. You can say you'll "just get plastic". Good luck getting a shop to pass a car with a plastic windsheild, or any of the other windows.

Two ways you have to think about this:

One. Spend a ton of money and get that inspection legit.
Two. Throw in the plastics and hope to god a cop doesnt tap your window.

Good luck Dan

I will return one day.
i would cut a frame around the windshield and lean it back. much cheaper. for the back i would cut the hatch bellow the glass and lean it in as well...dunno how it would look but it's a just an easy solution to the glass problem

Coming in 2010full paintjob - new wheels - modified body - new interior - engine build- marriage
they actually lean and cut the glass to fit i believe....

the parts around the back glass is egggggzactly what i meant

Sounds easy, should take 20, 25 minutes tops.

haha, id consider it a job well done if i got to the point of needing glass on a project like this
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like regardless of you you do it, you're gonna have to get some custom glass done, because if you section the roof and lean the hatch and windshield, you've still changed the geometry of your side windows, and if you cut and lower the whole roof, you've changed the geometry of the whole thing. But it would definitely be one of the most unique celis on the road. If you've got the $$$$ and you don't mind spending it, I'd say go for it. You'd have a show winner for sure when you're done.
you section the roof into 4 pieces really...
when you go down you also make it wider..thus keeping the sides at the same "geometery" but take some height away..

the front and rear get cut down and reangled...all stock glass can get reused i do believe

aka leave this up to a hot rod shop thats done it a few hundred times
