Topic #35038 9 posts Started by GT4WRC
>>After a few days in the planning, the ball was set rolling by employing the services of a local radiator manufacturer. A core was ordered from Oz and less than 2 weeks later it was ready..

The OE pre-rad which has seen better days.

A few bolts to undo and the old one was removed.

As can be seen below, quite a difference in size between the new twin and the old single core rads.

New brackets were welded to the new unit which utilized the original mounting points.
IPB Image

The design allowed the PAS and gearbox coolers to be fitted as per factory.
IPB Image

The sharp eyed will have noticed the 2 brackets on the top of the rad.
IPB Image

These are to facilitate the mounting of an engine oil cooler.

Waiting for the crash bar and bumper to be re-fitted.

All done. biggrin.gif

Went for a quick spin to ensure all was working well. Will recorded some measurements over the weekend after I've added some water wetter to the water and all the air has been bled from the system.

Thats awesome. I might one day look into a new heat exchanger

I will return one day.
nice job! i bet it will do a much better job cooling the boost. but arent you worried that you are now blocking the engine radiator? the oem one is designed to be not as tall so that the top vent from the bumper can draw air in for the radiator, while the bottom one cools the heat exchanger. im sure it will be fine, but just something to keep in mind.

wow - radiator looks like a big FMIC --

will you even be able to fit a FMIC if you were to add one - looks like no space left - just wondering?

Thats a heat exchanger for the top mount w/a intercooler. As long as he has the W/A he'll never need a FMIC. The engine radiator is behind the new H.E.

I will return one day.
Good work, looks like the new heat exchanger is up to the task. smile.gif

Nope, not worried at all. I've fitted a huge Koyo ally ard which is extremely efficient. And this was confirmed when I went for a test run last night. Temp gauge didn't budge whatsoever on WOT runs.
