Try to strip it back to original no paint. Use Testors 1148 enamel thinner.

Paint desired color no need to get fancy just make sure all lettering is covered.

Use flat surface and low lint cloth, I use the blue Scott Shop Towels found at
shucks or costco. Wipe painted surface on flat towel. I know it looks like a mess.

I usually let that dry at least 6 hrs. (Prolly overkill). After dry, use enamel thinner
by blotting on towel.

With index finger very lightly wipe across surface, with the grain of the material.

If you have sn engraving try to stay away from that area until
finished with the rest, then very very lightly wipe sn. Not sure where to post this,
just thought it might be helpful.
