i have recently been in contact with a guy who is picking up flood damaged celicas, i put a want it now ebay ad saying i needed a celica with a blown motor/transmission for a swap.

what do you all think of this, what do you think would need to be replaced aside from things that would be replaced during a swap anyway?

I dont know if doin a swap in a flooded damaged celica.
Unless the vehicle has been throughly dried.
It could become a rust bucket.

Unless you plan on repainting everything You have a pretty good chance of running into a whole lot of rust. If you do go through with it, be sure you take everything out and check for bubbles

no matter how you paint it, it will still rust. some parts of the frame are hollow and will hold water long after the car has been dried out. So it will rust from the inside out, parts where you dont see. The water in the electrical is another thing. I would not touch a flooded celica with a ten foot pole.

I know you said you decided against it already, I just thought I might still add an opinion:

If you were to do more then just a swap ( like fix it up for show as well as performance) then it might not be a bad idea. Then you could take the car and completly break her down piece by piece and so on. (I'd only do this if I could get it for an unbeleivable price though.)

there is a toyota 6gen here that my friend keeps bugging me about to buy. its a gt manual with a blown engine i think...owner wants 500 for the whole car. i havent seen it yet but he keeps insisting that i get it (like i got money to throw around....

If it is structurally sound then I would see that as a good project car! (i'd still try to talk down the price some though, just to see if I could get it for less)
