how many miles will our cars last, mine is at like 90 thousand and a little bit of black smoke comes out the back when i floor it. also my car burns oil offen and i had changes to mobil one at like 75 thousand can anyone give me any imput with whats wrong. my friend says that it might be my piston rings and i heard that sh!ts exepnsive, thanks
treat it good (don't "floor it") and it will last well into the high 100 thousands. from your description, it sounds like it is too late for that.
well i don't exactly beat on my car i just like to play with it i am shure everyone can agree with me on this
i pretty much beat on my car and it has like 136,000 miles on it and i still have no problems with mine except for the fact that everyonce in a while it take a second to start..i turn the key and here the starter but it just doesnt turn over and then all of a sudden it starts i dunno kinda weird IMO...cause it only happens like once a week
I had 185,000 with a little extra when i took out the 5sfe - and it was running fine, no drips, no burning oil. They're good engines, i was quite impressed and i've definately pushed the engine before.

Use synthetic oil, make sure u change it every 3,000. Do injector cleaner every once and a while. I started using 93 octane to extend life. Things evenutally going to wear out, but thats on every car, just take care of it it'll last as long as u want. Look at some of the Model A's and T's that FORD built way back in the 20's. It'll last as long as u wanna take care of it.

So last night, I just get back from watching 'Bruce Almighty" (nice funny family flick), and I turn the ignition key, it turns and then dies on me. It idled at 900 for one second then . . .that's it, the engine's off. I had to press on the gas for awhile to get it going. I wonder what is causing it.
mines got 157227 on it right now. It burns a little oil, but thats expected for my milage.
Bryan
Claudio, check spark plugs and fuel pump.

Its a Toyota....take care of it and it will take care of you. LOL

I treat it like crap (canyon carving and the like) and it has 157k. It leaks oil from every seal it has (checked this using oil tracers), has thick smoke in the morning, and hesitates upon hard acceleration. It wasn't taken care of by previous owner and I've been less than stellar at maintenance, hence the engine swap. Properly taken care of though, and the thing will last you into the 200k mileage range and beyond. It's a Toyota, 'nuff said.

i bought mine with 63k and now im at 73k all in 9 months thats alott of miles
Yea I put like 6k miles on my car since February. I recommend using synthetic or high mileage oil and checking your oil once a week especially if you drive it hard. The change to synthetic made a solid improvement in performance and the smoothness of running. Trying the engine oil additives to fix engine seals helped prevent oil usage for maybe 2k miles. 97k and still running strong
ive put like 11,000 on my car since january
i have 140,000 miles on mine and it runs fine ! just do your tune ups and oil changes you'll be fine ....... and yes i beat on my car too the engine can it

I will return one day.
Yeah, i have around 180 thousand on my 5sfe, and it still runs great. Im gonna give it a tune up real soon, cuz it could use some nice synthetic oil and new spark plugs.....but yeah i get on it every now and then but no problems whatsoever since ive owned it, going on a year now. >wink.gif>

3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting.
I got mine with 57k. Since I got a job I've put 11k. So my dial is about to reach 70k. Ever since February. I do 40 miles daily. Thats alot of mile.
mine has 153,000 on her >smile.gif> she still running strong >smile.gif> very strong i have put 14k on her in 7 months use synthetic oil change every 5k miles and when i bought her doesnt leak any oil or burn any runs like a champ i think a chick owned my car before me >biggrin.gif>
damn some of you have such low milage
cool well i am glad to hear that our cars will last into the 200,000 mile range if there taken care of mine only has 90 thousand and i think i will still cry when i see it hit the big 100 hopefully i gan get the burning oil problem fixed soon
i've got 145 on mine and its still running great. i'll be putting quite a few miles on this summer. 75 miles to get to work and back. plus my girlfriend lives about 350 miles away
Claudio, mine pulled that trick, but it never started afterwards, had seemed a little reluctant for a week or 2 b4 this, had it towed to the dealer. the dealer checked it out, the new Bosch Platinum+4 were completely fouled, totally covered with a layer of black soot, they decided the (new) Bosch wires had too much resistance,,,(they did measure a lot higher than the toyota wires) /// anyway, new stock wires and plugs and it runs like new again.
94,000 miles on my '94 ST. However, just a reference my Dad's 93 camry has 150,000 miles on the V6. Both engines, no problems what so ever.
do a compression test on it. its probably ur valve seals
My car is at just over 140,000 and its running perfect. Toyotas are built to last, I wouldnt be surprised to see some Celicas get into the 200,000 mile range. Keep up on oil changes and treat the car good and it'll run for quite a while.
mine's a lemon. bought it with 56K, and everything was shot, trans was rebuilt last summer, clutch replaced, and now i need to get the valves redone (i think its the lifters).... glad it was all warrantied.

Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them allNo but I don't buy itLike anything you do, as anyone you areCause I'm...Ten Speed, of God's Blood & Burial
Sorry to hear you bought a lemon, glad though its covered under a warranty. I think anytime you buy a used car it can be a crap shoot. Probably the person who had it before abused the crap out of it. I bought mine used with 65,000 miles on it. Since then I've changed the 1. timing belt, all other belts in the engine, spark plugs replaced, engine flush, transmission flush, coolant flush, and regular oil changes... that's just the engine/tranny. I've had a lot of other brake work done, but again no engine leaks and it runs great and gets good fuel economy. With 85,000 miles I drove 3000 miles across the U.S. with it, never missed a beat.
gots over 154k now and i dont think its gonna die anytime soon. Damn toyota really knows how to make a damn good car. Celicas are damn sexy and my fam got 3 of them. Oh ya i started pounded the car when it was at like 145k and the engine still sounds good all the time.
i have a whopping 13,000 miles and shes still running like a champ! >biggrin.gif> should be able to squeeze another 150,000 to 200,000 out of her.
