My Flat Black Celica : Pics Inside - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #33633 70 posts Started by Chanh55
Painted my car over the weekend using cans, "flat black". Tell me what you guys think. All my friends think I'm psycho, one of my friends said it looks like a Batmobile now.

All body work done by myself, I had no experience in body work before so I think it was good experience for me. Check out the 96-99 clear turns. I'm probably going to wet sand the whole car this weekend there is some over saturation/ overspray in some areas.

Pics taken with my camera phone, car is a little ashy from the fires Cali's been having 30-40 miles away...:

You're looking at 96-99 clear turns custom molded on to a c-one style bumper.

looks great. flat black always has a spot in my heart.

Visit My Automotive & Tech Blog.
dude that took major balls to do... a few things though.... you might not want to simply bondo the antenna hole.. over time it will crack... I have been told the only "real" way to do it is weld the spot closed.... Also since you are using a flat black, check into the no gloss flat black special celar coat.... it looks good overall. Props
really awesome man, im impressed
Not bad. I have a friend with a 89 Lincoln Mark VII fully flatblack. And know a guy that had his Supra TT flatblack but its painted now.

i have to go with lagos on this. flat black is nice, but i loved the way your celi looked! you crazzzy man laugh.gif

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
i like the back emblem black! and the c-one hood matching. did you sand everything down then can it or spray over?
gotta do something about those rims!

i like it and i get where you are comin from since paint jobs aren't cheap

Looks good, but i'm curious what Satin would look like instead on the celi.
supposedly Satin has a tad bit more of a shine.
i freaking love flat black, i hate when kids are like so when ya gonna paint it haha but yea i like it a lot, flat black and silver (like mesh pieces in silver) look awesome together, but your car is nice
good stuff now i want to do mine flat white lol na jk jk. but man good job
its does look like the batmobile!

KawiLove
wow, the flat black actually does look good!! nicely done!
that thing is hot, damn i need a black car.

cool, im a sucker for old school rat rod style... and flat black is deff that

but i caution you. dont leave it in primer too long, the reason primer is primer is b/c it adhears well to paint. why? b/c it absorbes moisture. the paint on your car will look satin when wet but youll begin to see oil spots stuff once the car gets dirty a few times. the real reason it isnt safe is b/c too long and the primer will cause the car to rust since it holds moisture against the paint

Were painting a few cars satin ourselves, but using semigloss enamel so it doesnt absorb moisture

....ya that was like a parental speech, srry
looks great~Jon

...Yea, I own a Nissan
i'm suprise you would leave ur original, beautiful and undermint condition colour. it was so shiny! frown.gif Flat black is very unique though, wonder if its camouflage at night... hehe can i get a night picture shot?

I saw it in person at autobacs a few days ago. I think i like the gloss black better.
I really like the way the car looks. I think you should put a black emblem on the front too...i must say, i think the turns look amazing, i love the way the bumper looks like its eating the turns. (if that makes sense)

I am now a part of the ihavemorethen16gc club!
me likey... i like flat black... especially flat black c-one bumper and lifter blocks

the paint was in such good shape! My car should be flat black rattle-canned, my paint sucks lol. Plus I'm a sucker for deep shiney non-flaked blacks

This is just temporary. I don't think I can justify a 2000+ paint job on my car since the value of it is probably only 2 or 3k due to high mileage, if I'm lucky.

I'm probably going to find a place that will do the base and clearcoat for under 1k if I do all the prep work.

The reason I did this was to paint over the bondo that I used to cover up the antenna hole and to make the whole car one color. Sure the paint was nice before... but it was a free paintjob with a lot of flaws, that was just a really nice pic using a 8mp camera.

Till I get a real paint job... The Batmobile will live for a month or so. I'll post pics when it's done, it's going to be sexy.
it's nice, but i love the way cars look when they are shiny and waxed. For a temp thing though i like the "batmobile"!
