search around buddy, there is tons of info in the forced induction forum. but as far as i know there is nothing other than a swap or ur custom turbo that will give u that much power. my a GT with cold air intake, soon 3 inch full exhaust, full tune up with top quality parts i dont think ill be close to 150. my word to u is do like most of the ppl here save up and do the swap it seems that is really worth it.

and urs in an automatic kindasad.gif ....save save save

Stick with a 2.25 or 2.5 inch exhaust for N/A, 3 inch is overkill for the 5SFE.

You do a number of things to up the horsepower. Head swap, I/H/E, Nitrous, or turbo.
Keep reading you'll find something you like. wink.gif

I will return one day.
I think your best option is to just swap a 4age in. It's a bolt in swap. Both are "a" series engines. This gives you more hp, no matter which 4age you get. Other options are 4age head on the 7afe block. There's guys out there that build the 7afe a little without turbo. Most usually swap the 4age in. Go n/a, it's the best power hands down.

what is N/A and how much is it arround?
thx..cause i know nth about enginering..that's why i can't consider of the engine swap /__\
N/A just means that it isn't turbocharged.

1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of moneyI'm not really an asshole, but I play one on the internet.**** Photobucket
n/a = naturally asperated
F/i = force induction ie:turbo, nitrous, or super charged

your ST is an N/A motor cause it sucks in air on its own
your probably not goin to hit 150hp on a n/a 7afe its just not built for it

consider a turbo setup (READ THE STICKIES FOR THIS INFO)

you could make a hybrid motor this requires a professional though....

realistically the only way your going to make some decent power is to swap...or pour a lot of money into making a 7afe turbo setup reliable
ruffly over 2000$ imo

so what does it mean Stick with a 2.25 or 2.5 inch exhaust for N/A?
thx
n/a = naturally asperated <---type of motor you have
2.25 or 2.5 inch <---unit of measure commonly found in the world, inches.
exhaust <----what engine fumes exit your car through, its metal pipes

apply unit of measure to exhuast pipe size, 2.25+ diameter of the pipe,

*not trying to be mean just making it really simplified*

thx , so do u think changing of the exhaust system can bring some help to increase the hp?
Yes, but not much. Many people will disagree with me when I say this, but I don't think the cost for a full custom exhaust justifies a few extra HP. IMO, the only time it's worth it to have an exhaust system is when you're turboed or swapped.

You're right, there are people that won't agree with you. I don't like the thought that you have to have a turbo to do anything good. I'm just a NA guy. The 5sfe and 7afe aren't good NA motors, but they will pick up a couple hp from exhaust. If every little hp you can get matters to you, exhaust isn't a bad idea.

buy a header for a 1.8L 93-97 Corolla and have it installed. I did. It made a big difference with the responce and feel of the 7a. Best bang for the $$ IMO.

u cant really bolt in a small block v8 in there right cause i have the same exact car that he does (95 ST Automatic) and how much do u think it costs for a 1.8 corolla header cost?
oh wow...that v8 thing was defenitly a joke.......

try SEARCHing ebay for the header to get a price...

yea umm ok at this point my advice to you is just accept stockness until you learn cars 101...which i believe there is a sticky expaining this in teh sticky section of this forum..

header is the FIRST piece of your exhaust
it bolts onto the engine block and goes from 4 pipes into 1 pipe
the SECOND piece is your downpipe which wraps from the manifold to under the motor and under the car
THIRD is a catalytic converter which is an emission device
4th is your muffler at the back of the car

I'm not saying the exhaust doesn't help. I'm just saying money is better spent elsewhere. Why spend $400 for a header, 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust, hi-flow cat and a brand name muffler just to pick up a few lousy horsepower and make a lot more noise?

On some cars you can pick up more. I've only spent probably $200 total on my exhaust, and I've picked up a little little gain. I'm talking header and exhaust though. Do it yourself is the best. I do agree that some cars just aren't worth it, but sometimes you have to make due with what you have. I would rather have a better platform for building, but the Celica is all I have to work with for now. A few hp can be up to 15hp total or more if you get the right equipment on the right motor. I seen on Speedvision, a Viper that picked up a ton just from a cat back. I tend to stick with the idea that older cars weren't build as well. But the fact is, newer cars have more emissions to ditch. I don't know which would pick up more, but it just depends on the engine.

is it easy installing? and what kind of exhaust will u suggest?
Like the other posts in here it is an easy install if you can weld pipe or if you just take it to a muffler shop. The bottom end is at the wrong angle (right for the corolla) and about 4 to 6 inches from the cat. Also if you have a 96 or newer ST you will have to put the rear O2 sensor in. I am running without one and no codes have popped yet.
Who cares about horsepower? Strip the **** outta that baby! It's an ST, so if you can get it under 2200 pounds you'll have lots of fun.

I will worship anyone who can strip a 6th gen down to 2000lbs and still have it fuctional and look normal from the outside. If I had a spare celica laying around I would do it.

I was drinking a soda and spit it out laughing when i read your response! Remember the guy with the 5th gen celica called frakenstien(supra headlights) that was swapping the v8 with rear drive into his celica on car domain? I posted it here a few times. I think he found out the hard way! This is his quote:

Alright boys and girls this is where it gets sick.... the newest plan is to put a 302 5.0 litre engine out of a mustang(cough yes thats V8 short block) and using the drive train tranny and everything to convert over to rear wheel drive...not to mention either going turbo or supercharger...this beast will be insane and yes it does sound impossible...but i have a crew that can help me make it happen...just imagine a celica...with a v8
dear lord...it has to be illegal

SO tell me what ya think ...
Heres the link to his dream:
