so, I started snowboarding this season for about 2 months now. Now I'm extremely addicted.. I love the sport and wanna start buying my own gears instead of renting and all. would any of you snowboarders out there would like to recommend a brand of board or what kind of board i should buy? what's good and what's not..
I looked into some on ebay, found some for about 89 bucks but I don't know if thats a good investment or a good board at that..

forum hands down but i gaurentee everyone will argue burton and its because they never riden a forum

yeah burton seems to be everyone's favorite.. I'm trying to find something a little cheaper but just as good

My first board was a K2 Zepplin and I loved it. It was a guys board but it was great. I ended up giving it to my friend who's just starting out also. I would have stuck with K2 when I bought my new gear, but I decided to ride a Burton. My 2006 package cost me a good $800+. Burton Feel Good Board, Burton Mission Bindings, and Burton boots.

Honestly, if this is your first season I'd suggest getting a package cheap since you're just starting out.
Think about it...you're going to chip and scratch your brand new $400-$500+ Burton board when you can just beat the heck outta a Liquid, Palmer, etc. When you've had a couple seasons under your belt and you've gotten better at boarding THEN i would think about getting brand new gear.

If you want to save money for now go that route, you can get alot of great deals on ebay for a whole package from the $100-$200 range.



Another thing. Regardless of what Brand board you get whether it costs $100+ or $500+ you can't really tell too much of a difference unless you're a hard core pro.

Liquid, Palmer, Rossignol are all good starter boards.

there is a huge difference and im not hardcore pro, however have been riding for 8 years.. yea id say start somehting cheap then work ur way up, u still dont really kno if ur gonna like it untill u got quite a couple times, first time is great then some people get bored of it, anyways yea my package was on sale for 1050.00 lol not cheap but start small

i don't think there's too much of a difference. i have a lamar board i got for about 150 bucks (w/o my flow bindings) and its just as good as the burton board my friend rented once. just make sure you don't get a cheap piece of ish and keep the edges sharpened to help with carving on icy or hard snow.

I have a Ride Tempest 156. Its a pretty kick-ass board. It is more of an all-terrain board, so it is easy to manuver through deep powder and performs equally in the pipe. Price is about 200-300 for the board w/ Ride LX/EX/LS (Dear god its like Honda..) bindings.

awesome to hear it got you hooked. snowboarding is why i love living here in colorado . im riding a burton canyon, a good wide board for the money ($380 if i remember right). if you have wide feet, you dont have as many options, so whats your shoe size? also, what type of riding you plan on doing? want a board to last for a while, or something cheaper for just a few seasons to learn with? honestly, your not going to be able to tell the difference between most boards when your a beginner. keep it up though, its the best sport hands down!

I wear size 9.. I found this place near my house that sells boards for pretty cheap because its last years model.. anyways I saw some Sims boards with binding for 199.99. with list price of 600.. I might end up getting that. I agree, it is the best sport hands down!... I'm going again this weekend, screw the superbowl

screw burton. they are overhyped and for novices. forum is overhyped too. I have an M3 board that i love, but i think that m3 stopped making boards, but they may have started up again. I also love arbor boards, they are pretty and good for powder.

oooooh, i almost bought an M3 board instead of my GNU. Sweet decks. Personally, I think some of the best value boards are K2/Ride, Lib-tech/GNU, and i did like the burton custom i rode better then the jp walker forum board i rode. I would also really like to get an OPTION board. out of what i have riden, i like my GNU choice the best. If your a beginner, geta board with a little bit of give, in my experience, good freestyle boards provide said give and limit the speed a wee bit. For boots, i have tried many from low end to super high end. My favorites are by far my burton boots. they are cheap too. i recomend a medium-good quality board. COMFORTable boots, and some medium-stiff bindings. I personally like K2 bindings as they are cheap, luight and effective. Basically dont skimp out on the deck. save your money on the other areas, i.e. boots and bindings. But beware with the boots, make sure they are good comfy boots, you can find them at a good price, but there are alot of ****ty boots out there, be carefull. OH, and buy second hand if you can, save $$$. And in my experience, sims boards are no good. I had a sims daytona at one point, didnt care for it much. also depends on what kind of riding your going to do, Big mountains:lots of powder, or half pipe/.terrain park, a little of both maybe. Go to a board shop and talk to someone there, they should be able to show you some options in your price range and taste. and i highly recomend a wide board for feet sizes 10 and up.

I love riding burton. But I have to agree with streets king forum is a really good brand. I buy either, depends witch i see in a selection, and feel more comfortable with the most

gnu is i think one of the best boards for value.

you guys don't like LTD, sims, or Vision?
I was shopping for boards and sportchalet and stuff..and its pretty pricey...looks good too

just cause something is more expensive doesn't mean its better. I've ridden a sims board, it was alright, but i haven't tryed the other 2.

i love burton but you should also look at Ride boards. not too expensive
