Topic #33256 15 posts Started by Kamakaze
hey i wanted to install a ps2 in my glove box, but how would i power it without sacrificing the low key look.

i know i could easly jus get a converter to plug into the lighter and hopefully hide it somewhere, but is there anyway i could switch it to the battery or somethin

ill have to ask my friend how he hooked his ps2 up in his 240
couldnt you get a converter and tap the power into a power wire (just hack off the cig. lighter plug) and ground it?

thats what i thought about doin
i dunno im not tryin tah hack anything off and be screwed, ya kno. Ive seen sum vector converters that have the hardwire for there products, maybe ill give them a shot

I've a playstation 2 installed in my car.
But its the slimline version.
My friend made a circuit for it to convert it from 12v down to
8.4v I think it was.
Which ps2 have you got?

then tap it directly into the wire that connects to your battery(yellow) with your cd deck...only drawback from this...make sure its turned off when you leave the car
or tap it into the acc wire(red) so that it turns on when the key is in acc position

im doing the same thing but i was gonna use the slimmer version? is the bigger one better
I've thought about putting my slim version out on my car too actually. Maybe eventually....I just have too many toys already. rolleyes.gif

Kamakaze, you should just buy the cigarette lighter adapter and then just tap the wires into some 12v power source, be it your cigarette lighter (gray wire is 12v+, I hard-wired my Siruis reciever into this) or the red or yellow wire before your headunit. The power part shouldn't be too hard, just make sure you wire up the video part well and don't leave wires hanging everywhere. wink.gif

i've had mine on a dc to ac converter hiden behind the cig lighter where I just bought the $4 cord at radioshack and left that part of the power suply permanetly. no wires showing, looks nice and clean.

if you guys want to cheat and do it the easy way, just get a PSP. it has the same graphics power as a ps2, is battery powered and is very easy to mount in the car. you can even buy umd movies on it, and have all the benefits of a car dvd player.

then get socom, a mic head set, and join me and jeff in a game over the net!
