The new camry... - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #32486 17 posts Started by creamed_corn
Is going to dominate. optional 268hp V6 with a six speed transmission. That'll be at the top of its class. To put that in perspective, it's the same engine in the new avalon, only the camry is going to have one more gear and a couple hundred pounds less weight. The avalon can almost make it from 0-60 in six seconds.... so I'm expecting the new camry will break into the fives and run the quarter in mid to low 14's.... the world is going crazy. I remember when mustangs and camaros were hitting 14's and that was good. Nissan has just been trumped.

that only puts it 3 hp ahead of the Nissan Maxima. I've driven those, and yes it's fun but it's still a big sedan trying to put way too much power to the front wheels. I hope that those car makers decide to use some LSD in their transmissions because the Maxima torque steered like a b*tch.

And with that v6 the MR2 guys will have some new swaps to plan out haha

YES, I just went to Toyota.com website and you will see that the 2007 Camry was just unveiled in Detroit. Read the Press Release once you get into the link. The new design definitely falls in line with the Avalon and new IS. Looks pretty radical if you ask me! 6-Speed (Auto)grocery getter/church mobile/family sedan anyone??

The only thing I don't like on the new Camry are the new headlights. They just look weird to me on that front end.
i hope the 2007 camry is awd....if not...it's still a good looking car compared to the 2003 model camry's ....>.<
its not awd.

no stick for v6 again?

That's because people drive camrys to work and to go shopping...

What i'm most curious about... how the hell did they manage 190 some odd horsepower out of the base "2.4" liter 4 cylinder (which I'm gonna guess it's new version of the 2AZ)...

Thats the hp for the hybrid the regular inline 4's are still the same at in the 150ish
it COULD end up being awd wink.gif

I was told that Toyota bought a LOT of shares of Subaru, and exchanged hybrid tech for awd tech. so i wouldn't be too suprised if more toyotas/lexuses started running awd systems
very interesting^^^...sounds good to me biggrin.gif
