Carbon fiber Intercooling pipe? - 6G Celicas Forums

What would be the benefits over aluminum? Less heat transfer or something?

i was just saying just because its probly lighter.
and it would score points at car shows probly.
as for flow it depends how smooth they can make it.
i was mostly thinking about weight.

LOL, If you're going to worry about the weight difference between CF and Aluminum IC piping, just take a dump before you go for a drive.

on a setup like my wrx which has several feet for intercooler piping, im sure CF piping would save a couple pounds

similar to taking out the floormats and vaccuuming the car.

you'll prob find this girl that has a nice sc4 w/ carbon fiber intake piping.
she was just in a couple magazines.
i'd just link you if i could remember which forum it was at.
It would actualy be worse at keep heat out, then metal i think, and wile it looks kinda cool, I doubt it could handel as much boost as metal and the cost is just way too much for what your getting.

and what happens if it breaks, that stuff would shatter and send chunks into your motor.

actually the carbon fiber could hold WAAAAY more pressure then you could possibly feed into a 3sgte...

note indy cars use CF for drive axels, control arms ect.....
yes, they do, but at the same time they rarely adjust(cept when off road + hitting the grips too high)
i'm not sure if the forces that it'll see as a pressure vessel are different front what it sees on the F1 car.

either way, to get it done RIGHT is probably WAY to much money. go Aluminum, just as hott.
