knocking in trunk still going - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #32144 9 posts Started by FSX_Celica94GT
ok, so a while ago i posted a topic on here about some sort of knocking in my trunk, and the majority of people on here said that it was my strut mounts. So today I got em replaced w/ some Monroe mounts......the knocking is still there, what the hell is that knocking noise, what else could it possibly be?

It's not just about getting from point A to point B anymore....
Sway bar bushings (4 bucks each, need 2) or your scissor jack are the other 2 most likely culprits. Could also be your hatch cover or anything else loose in the back half of the car.

Should have replaced the bushings first and spent 8 bucks instead of 80.
I have the same problem. Makes a knocking noise when I hit a bump. I thought it was my muffler hitting the frame. confused.gif

^ cant be the muffler hitting the frame, it would never hit loud enough for you to hear it

check the spare tire, and jack and crap, then inspect your suspention again I guess. go to a school or a parking lot with speed bumps, and have someone stand close wile you go over a bump and let em tell ya where the noice is coming from or if its louder outside then inside, then you'll know where to look and probably find it easyer.

Do this, it's REALLY easy, and I can almost gaurantee that's what you're hearing. I had the same problem. And like mike said... 8 bucks and five minutes later it was fixed. ALWAYS replace/fix the cheapest things first when you're trying to find a problem, you will save a lot of money that way!

Yes can do them yourself. I backed my car up onto some ramps. They are on the ends of the sway bar.
