Topic #31999 13 posts Started by x_itchy_b_x
Well like the topic says my dad wanted to make more power with his vette.
i said turbo it. hes like blah blah lag. i had to explain alot has changed with turbos over the years.
he dragged raced often when he was younger and said so few cars tried a turbo and they we crap.
well i showed him my friends twin turbo 5.0 mustang ( i think its like an 80's one ) and the fact that
it makes close to 500hp on 93 octaine gas. so now my dad really wants to turbo it lol.
so what im asking is how big of a trubo(s) should he get for a 327 350 lt 1?

First, I wouldnt twin turbo a 64 Vette, secondly, I wouldnt turbo anything that old. Is the engine fully rebuilt? I mean, whats the deal here thats kinda an old car worth most when its fully restored.

And this should really be in OT.

Agree with all that super said. 327 is a beast. should remain NA. Restored

JDM guy made me do it.
Slap a huge blower on it instead.
Alright mistaken identity here. i just asked my dad to make sure. its a 350 lt1. steal forged everything crank, rods, pistons. il take a pic. im not sure why i thought 327.

Put a blower on it call it a day.

I will return one day.
Its got a 283 or 327 intake on it. they are the only ones with the oil filler tube in the front.

its all about superchargers for classic cars.
Go for it. older american car motors can take a beating like no other. plus the turbo set up will probably be a good way to spend some time with your pops.

If it is the original motor it's a 327. 350 didn't come around till 69. wink.gif
I love that pic of the motor.

exactly how much power does your dad want to make?

does he want to keep the car carb'ed?

get pics from all angles of the engine bay and from underneith the car. its gonna be hard to find a place for two turbos(atleast any of size that will be worthwhile)

edit:

most important question of all, whats the budget like. going off of what its costing to turbo my friends 67 mustang, i would say he will need to spend $5k minimum

When was the last time you saw a turbo classic? I say Supercharger or nothing.

Leave it as it is by putting turbos on it you ruin the car and the value plummets coz it ain't original.
