It is perfectly possible that the car is in Japan. Okinawa is a Marine Corps base. He probably had the car transported overseas when he was stationed there. I only know this because I'm a Marine. I'll bet money that in the second picture on the left side in the background are barracks.
Since that part of Japan is owned by the United States, you don't need to register your car in Japan.

I dont see why anyone would bring a car to Japan and then try and sell it back into the United States. Someone should try and ask him about payment, I bet he says he only excepts cashiers check or money order and that he will ship the car when money is recieved.
