I LOVE MY 7A! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #31181 30 posts Started by JoKeRkId613
Lol. Just came across this random picture of my engine bay. I looove my 7A. I'm not going to go with the swap anymore. I'm just going to go turbo, most likely. Going with a T3/T4. Not sure which one yet, anyone have any tips? I already got the mani and a couple extra things so it should be fun. Going to keep it auto and see how long it lasts and then swapping the manual in there. It sucks being 18 and on a budget!!! Lol. I wish I could swap for a 101GZE like FAQ, but whatever. Maybe one day...

Well, that's nice.

There are lots of threads about turboing the 7A, so get searching! smile.gif

Yeah man. I've been searching for quite some time just so I have the knowledge and I'm going to have quite some help from friends of mine. I just don't want to do a half-ass job. I want the works. Fuel system, proper gauges, full exhaust setup, etc. If anything happens, I can get another 7A from almost any junky here. That was also why I wanted to stick with the 7A. I would love to go 7A-GTE like nik but I don't have the time/space/knowledge to do that. Who knows, while being turbocharged, I might get a friend of mine to help me build one heck of a 7A-GE and swap it in and decide to put the turbo on there. But for now, the plan is 7A-FTE. And that's exactly what I was saying "7A is teh HAWTNESS!!!" lmao. This car's going to be famous here in Miami. You'll see.
yeah...famous. goodluck man....

Haha. I like the illustration, Doc. biggrin.gif

Do as much research as you possibly can beforehand and you'll have yourself a nice project. Please....dont forget to use some kind of oil restrictor to the turbo though, otherwise you'll be saying bye-bye to alot of turbos and money.

wow i hope that you research a 7afte.....
T3/T04 is too big...........
go to the forced induction section

go to FAQ

and read the entire right up on 7afte compressor maps and info

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

i have read it. good stuff , btw, plyr. i also read nik's how-to and i've read over doggys setup. i just dont have much hands-on experience witht he whole turbo thing so im a little off on it but i have a lot of friends that are going to help me put it together and whatnot. im pretty sure i'll be fine. if anything, i'll change the flange on the mani.
Ok. this is good stuff. sorry about the dumb questions but whats the absolute best/ideal turbo to go with on the 7a. i've seen mostly everyone's setup is a t3 turbo of some sort. i figure the green eclipse from fast and the furious has a t3/t4, why cant i? lol. on a serious note tho, which is the best to go. if it's t3, which trim? thanks.
awesome, doing the same thing as me smile.gif going 7afte and keeping auto as well. my goal is to have it completed by end of summer 06.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
I love my 7a too, until I had to change my starter mad.gif 2X in 2.5 years mad.gif mad.gif

Nope. It was so he could have a 3SGTE. biggrin.gif

EDIT- By the way JoKeR, thats an extremely clean 7AFE. Kudos.

for one the eclipse is a 2 liter and your 1.8L just go with a t3 50 because your staying stock internals doggy had 60 trim but had alot of other work done to it

here this is all you need for a basic turbo kit

Yeah, that's the same reason I want one! Lol. Why could it be a 3A-GTE with the same specs?!?!?! Oh, thanks for the kudos. Would you believe it has more than 200,000 miles on it? AND I'm still going turbo no matter what anyone says! Lol. Then soon after the turbo, or before(not sure yet), I'm doing a manual swap. So whent the 7A-FTE blows, I'm thinking of putting in a GZE since I can use the same tranny. Lol. Big hopes and dreams here that I'll soon turn into reality.

Hey nik, you selling any of that sh!t in the picture? smile.gif I'm not planning on staying with stock internals... biggrin.gif so is t3 60 the best one to go with if I will be upgrading my internals??? Thanks.
I don't ever want to hear another fast and the furious reference ever again.

No problem. Lol. I know I do too many of those. It's hard to resist. I just hate it when my friends make me hold the cash cuz I'm too slow to make away with the money, man. wink.gif

nope sold it to streetracing10psi on here i do have extra 2.5 inch intercooler piping as for the t3 question just depends on what your going to do with car and your power goals. Also what internal mods are you going to do?

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte
^everything possible. lol.i just want to turbo the 7a i have now and have another 7a on the side being built by my friend. i wish i could go gte but i dunno, i feel like itll get too complicated and whatnot. so im probably going to keep the fe head and just build the internals up and the goal is to have one heck of a 7afte. i want it to be the most powerful 7afte ever! biggrin.gif bwahhahaahha. but yeah, i just want to have the turbo ready so that i wont have to get another one when the time comes. so i want to have a the best t3 possible and proabbly will end up just going t3t4. who kows. im just looking around. reading everything i can(not to kiss ass or anything but most of it is the sh!t you write about here on the forums).
well get all the parts i have in that pic and slap them on your 7afte and low boost it for a little while to make sure everything is good to go then go hog wild if you want

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte
sounds like a plan! lol. is there anything better than the 60 trim? if not bro, im just going with the t3t4. there'll be some lag im sure but whatever. it'll be good when i move on to the built 7a cuz im sure i can run higher boost safely than i could on a t3. what kinda injectors was it that u used for the 7a? with the green things... and i wanted to use something other than the walhbro one cuz faq told me its a bit loud.
wow more research my friend...and learn how to do compressor maps and calculate your CFM ect...

the T3T4 is NOT the turbo for you and has HUGE lag....

T3 super 60 is the trim of T3 i would go with (i calculated my engine volume around 1.9L (bored cylinders) instead of 1.8L) and nearly up to 20+psi

anything above this is really overkill on a 7afte

and if your building your 7afe, you might want to consider opening it up with a port and polish, oversized valves and a angle job

first off, heres a great site to learn basic turbo facts and terminology
turbo info. especially read turbotech 101/102/103. make sure you do your own research before buying. ive been researching all the components for my kit for quite a while to best avoid complications later on. its important to learn yourself in my opinion than ask other people what to do. also about swapping the gze in later, if i remember right, wont be able to use st manual tranny without modification due to flywheel differences between 7afe and 4agze (gze's is larger diameter and is 8-pin as opposed to 6 pin if i remember right). 200000 miles? good luck man, only reason im not swapping yet is because i only have like 45k. figured id kick its a** before i swap wink.gif. have you seen the video of oobe's auto 7afte? not too shabby smile.gif

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
What are the power gains from adding a turbo to the 7A, I had a 7A and swapped it for a 3SGE for a 60 BHP upgrade i am still smiling and i believe the amount of work versus power was well worth it.

and if you do the math 170 whp +15% tranny loss = 200 crank horse that was untuned and i still got 30 mpg on the highway staying out of boost most the time

the car put down only 95 whp with no turbo so thats a gain of 75 whp

but the 3sge is na power and probably around 160whp

teh 7afte is just a stepping stone and is a fun cheap way to get power out of the ST celica then you can go on to a 3sgte swap or 7agte or what ever you want to do

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte
