Huge Engine problem!!!! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #30585 17 posts Started by nightryder
my car has been leakin oil out by my oil pressure switch so I went to replace the switch. I figured it had never been done and it would be a good idea if it was leaking. so i took it out and put in a new one. I literally watched the crack spread on my block. It wasnt the switch that was leaking it was my block. There was a small crack on the underside near the switch and by putting in a new switch, it spread the crack and started a new one. so now my car is undriveable and I am being force to cruise in my mothers minivan. I was thinking of taking apart my engine, selling the good parts and getting a supra engine put in. what do you guys think?HELP PLEASE!!

thanks
nate

The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?
I dont think a supra engine would fit in our engine bay >rolleyes.gif>
I think they mention it in the sticky.

There is a '99 BEAMS VVTi, with a 5-speed lsd tranny on B/S in montreal for $2700 plus shipping.....hell ship any where in the continental US....good buy if i do say so myself (im thinking about getting it)

But yeah, supra motor wont fit...so dont even waste your time and money

Ok well it's already been said Supra motor is a no go- Look in the sticky, it lists all the possible swaps.

if you want an easy fix get anothe 5s. If you want to swap and want more power go with the 3sgte swap.

There is a ton of info of that swap around here, The beams is a 3sge which you could aslo do, but as far as I know the wiring is a big issue, also a lot more people have done the 3sgte swap so they are more likely to know the answers to some of your questions.

do you have a pic or something... i really cant imagine how the head could crack like that.

take it to a local mechic, there has to be an easy fix for it. its just the head, i bet they could weld the crack. even jb weld might work on something like that.

i dont have the car with me right now, its at the shop. so i cannot take pics right now. when she gets home i can get em tho. im bringing her home tomorrow, the work starts monday. I asked a family friend who is a mechanic and he said that he couldnt weld it. not sure why but he told me tho onlt thing i could do was swap it out. its ok tho. the only way it would have cracked like it did was if there was already a small crack started...hence the small oil leak. so i dont mind replacing it if it was the piece that was screwed up in the first place.

heck yes... and while you are at it duct tape it too, the combination of jb weld and duct tape will fix anything

i cant see that crack being anything big. also sometimes they sell raidator repair kits that i could see working on something like that. its got to be a hairline crack at best (i would think)

its a lil bigger than a hairiline, and to put it in perspective, when the crack first happened, oil shot out of my engine and landed literally 3ft from the front bumper of the car. it was a frickin geyser. but shes comong home today, prob going to take her apart and take a look at doing what cutrara said. The part doesnt come in til mon, so i have a lil time. anyone have anything else i should do while im inside of her?

port/polish and gasket replacement isint going to help you with anything tho. if the head is really that badly damaged, then you need to source a brand new head, or just find another motor to swap in .
