Nissan Sentra Power Door Lock Problem - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #30205 6 posts Started by Cutrara
Firstly, this isn't a locking system in a Celica, but just a general question that I hope some of the electrical gurus can answer.

I install alarms and the like in friends cars and I have a full keyless entry/remote start kit laying around here that I want to install in a friend's 94 Sentra. The problem is her locks are all goofy. She explains that the locks lock and unlock themselves randomly. I want to fix this before I install the keyless entry/remote start. What does this sound like is happening?

Does this seem like something is grounding out?
Bad Relay?
Bad Switches?

It could easily be any of those. some cars will lock when you put it in drive or go over 5mph then they will unlock when you put it in park. Not sure about a Sentra though. Just find out if it really is random and go from there.

I don't think it's a safety feature. It's random in the way that she'll be driving down the street and they'll lock and unlock a few times. I had a similar problem when I installed keyless entry in my car, turns out a wire was pinched in a bolt and it was grounding out.

Oh well, time to get out the multi-meter and some EWDs... If anyone has more ideas, let me know.

is this lock/unlocking like a glitching? Does the locks fidget randomly?

The full Nissan service manual for the B13 is available here. That should help.

New Toyota project coming soon...
I asume your talking about the stock locking system, otherwise I would say check the wires, it sounds as though maybe the wire sending the power to the lock is getting crossed with a power wire or an internal switch is brocken and whenever the car hits a bump or something they tuch, I would take the car over some bumps and see if that causes it.
other then that it could be a bad relay but I would not think so, usualy if they do out nothing works or you lose so function it would not really be randomly working. (unless its physicly broken and in peaces where some wires can tuch on acsident.

Do the locks work just fine when you push the button? or do they not work without the key or is it a just when driving or when the key is in?

the more info you can get the better.
