The spark plug wire set is not allowing me to get the spark plugs out. The thick part that actual goes over the plugs all popped off. They are all stuck ontop of the plugs. How in the world am I suppose to get them off? I've taken a long screw driver and tried to get them up as well as used the wire set itself to try to pull back up. Please help, is there a special tool for this problem or some type of technique. I've already tried our long needle nose but they wont open up in the small area. Thanks

Im not sure if i understand where your sparkplugs are BUT if they are stuck in the top of the motor and you cant get them outta there location try this....
cut a piece of garden hoes aprox 8" long then on one end cut two 1" slits
on each side....place the cut end over the plug and press down and your
plug will come out....
If your plug is not where i think it is you can use this tip some other time. >

the spark plug isnt what i cant get out right now, its the rubber part of the wires stuck ontop of the plug because they broke off whichi is my problem. thanks though, and i've tried the long set of needle nose, they wont open up.....this is a big pain in the butt
Search around, my buddy found at some random mom+pop store a 3' long set of needle nose's suprizlingy comes in handy quite often.

chuco, look for a big set of hemostats, they will work perfectly.
just in case, "hemostats" are those little pliars the doctors use..or roach clips...lmao but you need a BIG set..my dad had a set in the toolbox for years...
maybe sears or somthing.

Chucho, you can also try pulling from the wire part of the spark plug wire, above the top of the plastic part and dust skirt that goes into the head.
If I understand what your saying correctly, then it sounds like the long plastic piece that has the dust skirt at the top has separated from the rubber part with the clip for the spark plug in the middle of it. Since the actual wire part goes through all that hard plastic as a way of preventing electronic interference you can probably just tug on the wire up higher using slow steady pulling.
If its a no go, then use the hemostats like manny said or those little three-prong grabber claws that are made of jointed metal from Jegs or Summit, I believe. They have a handle so you can open and close the claw to grab things and they *could* do the trick if you have a steady hand and a flashlight. >

I'm guessing you were using wires other than stock toyota ones? I have tried both autozone AND advanced autoparts wires and after a few months they just get so crappy and brittle that they break when you try to pull them. Get wires from the toyota dealership, they cost about the same as the ones from any autoparts store, but these will last!
