I grew up right down the road from a slaughterhouse and have no problems with the way they conduct their business. It was and still is owned by one of my friends parents and I have seen all aspects of how they do everything. They did not and still don't torture the animals, they kill them instantly.

If you think it is inhumane, just remember that next time you pull into McDonalds or Taco Bell!

As far as hunting, I'm all for it as long as you or somebody eats what you kill. I don't believe you should just kill something to hang its head above your fireplace while it's body rots out in a field.

You kill it, you grill it!

I eat meat, so it'd require an incredible level of hypocrisy to frown upon hunting.

However, as a contest against nature/yourself, I can respect bow hunters, and even more so those who go hunting with nothing but a knife. Guns are a bit too much of an advantage, particularly when combined with a tree-top blind and beer while you wait. Though I have to admire the guy with a .22 carbine going after the multi-ton moose.

I figure the ethical line is the infliction of pain. Killing an animal, well, that's how you get meat. It's how the killing is done that matters. Put it this way, I prefer to believe what I eat was killed in the same manner a predator kills its dinner -- as quickly as possible.

There's a reason why the most twisted killers we know all started with animal torture.

Sort of the point -- you have to be a good enough stalker. How do you think animals do it?

Most knife hunters, however, use it as a throwing weapon. The idea is that it's an even trade-off; our brains and a short ranged weapon instead of the reflexes and strength of a predator.

I'm not a huge animal rights activisist or nothin but i think that hunting is TOTALLY wrong. Killing living things for fun should not be allowed, and if it is, then killing people should be legal as well. I dont buy into that "OVERPOPULATED" cr*p either (when it comes to bear or deer season). If that was the case, then should we go into overpopulated countries such as China or India and kill people to decrease the population? I dont buy into that. Whenever i see videos of hunters gettin mauled by lions, tigers, or whatever, i just sit there and laugh and wish i was there watchin it in person cuz i show no sympathy for them what so ever. I find it funny that laws in the US contradict themselves as you arent allowed to abuse pets at home, but its ok for u to shoot other animals? Such a load of sh** to me.

What about mosquitos? If I kill a mosquito, am I a murderer? LOL. Regardless of the animal, surely you don't mean to suggest that killing animals is on the same moral plane as killing people......

Also, the overpopulation argument is not crap. I don't know if you live in an area with a lot of deer but I can tell you this: the annual population of deer is directly proportional to the number of traffic accidents (some involving serious injuries and death) involving deer. Also, they eat crops, new trees, and cause many other problems that hunters could tell you about. I am not a hunter but I think controlling these populations makes some sense.

I live in the middle of the f*ckin woods. On the mountains in Northern NJ. I KNOW about Bears, foxes, wolves, deers, snakes and everything. Still doesnt give them the rights. Animals were here before we were, so its THEIR land that we invaded and decided to build roads on so u cant fault them for tryin to cross a road to get somewhere. I still consider it their land. Ive avoided MANY MANY deers in my life in the woods. Thats still no excuse. Controlling populations is just their way of giving hunters satisfaction.

obviously if ur stranded somewhere and need food and need to hunt...then obviously u need to hunt for neeed. But to hunt for "FUN" or as a sport...or to get rich off animal fur or whatever is totally unnecessary. i have VERY strong opinions on this topic and i think hunting as a sport should be illegal.

You need a hug... go hug a tree. Human beings and our ancestors have been killing, and have been killed by animals for millions of years. It's a part of the cycle of life and the food chain. Yeah, I think some people who hunt are morons, but the act of killing an animal is not wrong. Is a cougar that kills a deer a murderer? No. When my cat kills a bird, mouse, or chipmunk, is she a murderer? No. Killing an animal should never be compared to killing a human being. Human life is far more valuable than an animals. If you derive any pleasure out of watching a human being killed by anything, than you're a sick, sadistic person and just as bad those people you despise. There are many people who have different opinions than myself, but I would never laugh at them being killed, and they're entitled to their own opinion. I think hunting is okay, so I occasionally do it, and if you don't agree with it, then don't do it. But don't deny someone else's right to do it.

hunting has paved the way for our modern society. You know why tigers don't think twice about killing? because they don't have PETA to fill their minds with propaganda.
Notice, when a hunter goes hunting, he doesn't grab the animal and slowely drown it in the nearest bit of water. It's almost always over quickly. Granted, some people might go overboard a bit (ala Ted Nugent) but without the hunting and klilling of animals, this great nation could never have been.

I feed my cats. Sometimes they catch animals like bunnies and chipmunks and frogs and bring them up on the porch and just slap them around until they die. Then they don't eat them. Does that make them murderers? No. Even people who hunt for sport eat what they kill. I've never met a person who doesn't eat what they kill. Everyone NEEDS to eat. Just because a person can as easily go to a store to buy food doesn't make it wrong to go kill your own food.

I have a lot of fun with vegies.

I have no issues with eating meat, and I openly admit this to vegies. Most often they will attack me and ask wether I would butcher an animal myself....

My honest reply is that I have assisted my father in butcher a deer, twice. "But if dit makes you feel better both of the were road kill." - to my astonishment, this utterly repels them. I believed that this is the most humane method of eating meat, but there own prejudices cloud their judgement. It is not like there were killed for the enjoyment of the hunter.

My father hunts every year, in fact he is moose hunting right now. I would somewhat enjoy hunting however I know there are many avid hunters who enjoy it more and given the limited number of animals needed for culling, I prefer to give the joy to those who enjoy it more than me.

No issues here, it is part of nature.
