To anyone thinking about doing the 3s swap, do it yourself. It is worth it, it will save you a huge headache in the end.

Thanks, for the support.

I did contact auto lab and Billy didn't seem interested in doing it. He was going to check on the costs and call me back, I called a few times and he never called me back. Its a shame because I literally live a block from there.

That surprises me. I spoke to him a couple times about doing some work for me and he seemed like a real great guy and very knowledgable - particularly about the 3sgte.

He knows a lot about mr2's. But I was just kinda turned off that he couldn't call a customer back that is looking to spend about $2k with his shop.

I plan on it, my car is never going to a shop again. Unless its for paint or something. I should have done it myself to begin with.

Anyone know a good place to buy wire to extend the harness? I tried radio shack and they didn't have the right gauge.

pepboys has a lot of different gauge automotive wiring. most people just use the spare wires they have from their stock harnesses. i didnt extend mine, just jut a new hole right behind the ecu

Well I would do that but, the guy cut the harness so I might as well go ahead and extend it since I will be soldering it anyway.

Depends on who does your swap >> That sucks though. I wish I was closer so I could help you out.

This is the reason why, when people ask how come their swap is going to take between 6-8 weeks, I just smile. (I only work two days a week.)

Well I got an update, reason #2

Tonight I tore apart the engine and found out that there are no new parts on
their except for the ones I brought with me(the clutch). I pulled the tranny
and the bolts on that where not tight, half were not even the right ones.
The pressure plate bolts were not tight or even loctited, one was missing
because it was snapped. Pulled the timing belt cover no new timing belt, no
new water pump. Pulled the inter cooler no new spark plugs no new plug
wires.

Yesterday I also filed a complaint with the BBB in MD. So hopefully I will get some action off of that.

rjb, i feel your pain.
that really sucks that you got screwed the way you did.
thats the reason i would never let anyone but toyota work on my car before i started doing stuff, and the reason i do all my own work now.
hopfully with the help of the people here, you'll get everything sorted, and get that thing up and running soon.

from the looks of it....it sounds like youll have no problems doing your own swap at all. so, it can only get better from here!

Yea I wish I would have done it myself to begin with, it would be finished by now, stuff would be right, and I would have saved some money.

Anyway started on repairing the harness tonight. After that is done I'm putting on the timing belt, water pump, plug wires,plugs , pulling that broken bolt out, and then putting it back together. I hope to be putting the engine in sunday.

I'm going to need help on where these plugs go though.
