Ok well I am going to replace all gaskets on my 3s before I finally install it. im not worried about a stronger headgasket for now the stock will be fine because I have a budget on this project.

Ebay Gasket Set

I found this on ebay, good gaskets? good deal? are there any other better places to look?

thanks for putting up with all my question asking.

i didnt click the link, but if its not an actual toyota gasket set, and you can verify it, i wouldnt bother.

i just looked @ the auction, it seems ok, i always worry about aftermarket part fitment tho..lol

toyota gaskets are normally better, but...if you think about it...its a freking gasket, you cant really mess up making that. the only reason i would say not to buy it, is because youll be paying for a headgasket that you wont use.

actually i probably will use the headgasket for a short ammount of time because im just putting the motor together oem. but next summer or maybe this winter if i get bored im taking the head off to replace everything so I can be gentle on this HG if it means i dont have to buy 2 HKS sets...

That set is fine for everything on the engine except for the head gasket and the turbo and exhaust gaskets. Those ebay one are just too cheap and thin. But all the seals and small gaskets are fine. It is a good deal either way... but when you buy the turbo to downpipe and manifold to turbo gaskets compare the difference... The toyota ones are 20 times thicker... the ebay one is paper thin... not worth the hassel if you ask me.

i think what ive decided is ill just drop my motor in as is for now with new timing belt and tensioner and ill update all teh gaskets when i take the head off for the machine shop.

does anyone know of a good shop in the Washington state area for head work oh the 3sgte?

unless there is something wrong with your motor, i wouldnt take the head off. just do all the gaskets you can think of. these motors are old and sit for a while, so everything rubber has a chance to leak on you before you know it

and trust me, its better to spend a few bucks and replace the gaskets now, then to have to replace them later on with the motor in

ive gotten very good at removing the motor... i plan on taking it out over the winter possibly to replace all the internals. pistons, rods, valvetrain. so i dont want to mess with gaskets twice and at the cost of HKS metal gasket it just seems like such a waste

btw, TRD makes one and it's like $100
champion sells it.

a stock head set at the dealer is $80.00-120.00 . do it that way so you get it all O.E.M.

I doubt you will blow the stock head gasket if you are leaving the motor stock.

hehe.. stock for now.. also this is for defgeph, bboy, rjb, and the 3s swappers. how much were your FMIC setups? im not looking for the best of the best rather a cheap solution. thanks guys!

nice front mount & the muffler shop; not the best but the cheapest...
