I think its been talked about...but yah...I dont think I'm the only 1 with this. So what do you think it is? Bad tranzmission? It grindz downshift around 3-1 an if u slam it on any gear upshifting espcially 5th.

well, if you "slam" your shifter around, you're going to go through synchros fast. that's most likely the cause of any grinding: bad synchros.
also, this may be a weird point, but i haven't heard of downshifting into 1rst gear. i was under the impression that the car doesn't like to go into first gear unless you are going very slow. i know my celica won't downshift from 3 - 1, like it just won't. if i really forced it, yeah, probably, but i don't tend to do things that the car tells me it doesn't want to do. if there is resistance to doing it, DON'T do it.

I know what you mean about goin to 1st gear unless its like around 1000rpm or less~ but I mean for the other gears...when u shift hard it grindz a lil sumtymz~~...especially upshifting to 5th gear...regardless of how slow I am (unless really really slow shifting up), it grinds just a lil.

also if you have a prob going from no gear to 1st and it wont do it...
then try going into reverse then into 1st...not really moving in that gear just putting in in gear with the clutch depressed.

Yea, anyone get this...sometimes the gear wont go into first or reverse but if you let it coast a tad it slips right in. Its not a problem but i was just wondering what causes it. It happens very rarely but it was annoying at this intersection one time. Almost like it gets between gears and the coasting of the car puts it into neutral completly...just a guess.
kinda like u have to re-put it back into the gear so it catch's? Yep happenz here too...
yea mine grinds going into 3 unless I drive it for like 1 hour and it gets real warm, so when I race it I just slam it untill I feel a little resistance and then just stop pressing, and it will slide right it just like you did slam it but without the grinding, it took forever how to master it but now that I did it works great and havn't noticed any diff if acceloration.
That doesn't sound good at all...
I know sometimes i have problems putting it into reverse from a stop like when I am in my driveway. I have to put it into fourth then up and over into R..i don't know, i never have problems with first gear though.

you can ds into 1st easily after you reset the gearbox by going into 2nd (3-2-1) my car is a slow p.o.s. so i have to learn how to do these things!
