7A-GE question - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #28551 5 posts Started by JoKeRkId613
My 7A-FE has 200,000 miles on it now. I was thinking of getting a 4A-GZE but figured it would be cheaper to put a GE head on the 7A and then turboing later on. Plus, it will still be a 1.8 which I'm guessing gives it more potential. My question is... since I have so many miles and my engine may die any day now, is it okay for my 7A to have 200,000 miles and the head of the engine only have 30,000 miles? I don't really know how to ask this exactly to get the answer I want... What part of the engine usually dies out and starts the problems? The head or the bottom half. Because if the bottom half will remain the same 7A... then it's more feasible to go with the GZE. Help me out. Thanks.
would you really want to boost such a high mile engine?

the cyclinders would have alot of wear and the bearings and seals would be pretty bad shape.

Perfect. Thanks a lot. That's the answer I was looking for! Lol. I was just making sure because I don't know much about mechanics. Someone will be doing the engine work for me. Thanks though.
well you can rebuild your engine get a new crankshaft, rods , pistions , seals . bearings. and a few other things... and as long as your doing it rebuild to the bottom end, doing the head would be a good idea .. but by this time if your not doing the work yourself things might get pricey... but your 7a having 200k on it is such a big deal .. as long as the motor was taken care of .. you could for for another 200k easy ..
