Can I have a tutorial on how to go about it? it is a 98' non superstrut celica.

You might search for axles and see what comes up. I know I found a lot about CV boots, joints, and axles when my CV boot was torn a while ago.

It's probably best to replace the axle instead of just the cv boot. I'll be replacing my right axle this week since mine is torn as well...

To replace th boot, you either need a special tool that can stretch the boot over the whole axle, or you have to take apart the axle, and put the boot on. Another option is the type of boot that 'wraps' around, and you screw together which i have seen a few times, dunno how well it works tho.

Tried those wrap around boots once, they lasted about 2 months before they fell off, a good short term soultion but not a perminant fix by any means. I dont see why you should replace the whole axel instead of just the boots, a liitle bit excesive I think!
Try the splitt CV boot and see how it goes, as long as you keep it clean and take time to glue it together correctly it should be OK. Otherwise take it to a garage, it`ll take em less than an hour (per side) to fix and is worth the peace of mind and lack of hastle.

ok....for as long as i've been working with toyota i've done a lot of cv boots. you need special tools for putting them on and taking them off. it's a 3 hour job for each side at toyota and to even think about replacing them without taking the axels out is a big no no. if your planning to do it yourself without the right tools you can forget it. this is no easy task since in order to replace those cv boots you have to take out the whole axel, have a axel pliers to make sure that they are tight enough to stay on and not rip the boots. be careful also you should drive around the block to listen to a clicking noise while your turning. and if you hear them you should just buy new axels since hearing them means your axels is beat up and won't last much longer. whatever you plan to do good luck. this is just my advice to you.

Typical of a toyota worker to say that. I watched a non toyota worker, GT4 specialist garage change the CV boots (both inner and outer in 1 hour, well slightly over, on my car, not stood 4 feet away. The only time you should ever need to replace axels is if they are damaged, bent, just having a CV boot bust is no big deal unless you leave it for a long time and the grease goes bye bye. if its just gone, replace the boot and jobs a good un. If it takes 3 hours to do then they are talking bollocks and dont know what they are doing, I did it myself in less time than that with no specialist tools, a bitch of a job....yes, but no way 3 hours work. Find yourself a descent garage and they will do it no worries, never go to a toyota dealers, they are a rip off and havnt got a clue. Took my car to the dealers once and the guy didnt even know what model of Celica it was as he`d never seen one before, that says alot. by allmeans replace the axel if its bent or fubar, but to replace it just for the sake of it is stupid and a waste of hard earned cash.

Just dropped off my car to the mechanic to replace both my cv boot. He said I didnt need to change the axels, they are still fine.

After this, I would have to look at replacing one of my wheel bearings on the rear >> . Everything seems to be falling apart lately

Must be a common fault at the moment, my rear wheel bearings just gone, $390 to fix it, bugger, I`m sure my car knows when pay day is.

ok look sorry if i made the wrong impression and sorry to hear that not every tech out there knows about the gt-four but that's just the way we do things here so that we don't have to hear customer's mouth such as yourself but i was only just trying to help. and if you don't like what i have to type then sorry i won't say anything the next time. it's just that easy. and just to let you know i never told him to replace the whole axel that's the reason why i told him to drive it around and listen to a sound when turning. again just trying to help you out and if by all means you can do it a different way then that's good for you. i'll just keep my mouth shut the next time i decide to help someone out.
