Clear Curren - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #27464 17 posts Started by JoKeRkId613
After viewing a thread where people were removing the amber lens from their JDM Hatch tail lights, I decided to do it as well. I have a Coupe with Curren tails. Here's the before and after:

They look so much cleaner. I hope I don't get stopped by a cop because they have nothing better to do around here than to stop you because of a clear turn signal. And I believe I'm the first person on here with the clear curren tails? >biggrin.gif>
Thats great looking, but I'd be too worried about ruining them. Not like they're easy to get.

Put an amber bulb in if you dont want any trouble.

DUDEE I LOVE U HAHHA YO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO THAT MAN yo wtus ur AIM help me do that to mines my AIM is latinomasfinoaxg
nice one. be sure to post some specifics on how you did it
Thanks for the positive comments. Well, I don't think they'll get damaged at all. All the guys with the hatch Celi haven't had any problems and they cut through the plastic as well, I believe. That's where I got the idea from. It was very easy to do after the first tail. Because the problem is that you at first don't know where the amber lens is located. It's a weird shaped piece and a little difficult to pull out. I'll post step by step how I did it tomorrow morning. I don't have my camera with me now and I suck at explaining things. So that'd be best. To sum it up, it's just a dremel with a disc to cut plastic. The one I used was actually to cut metal, but that's fine too, just make sure the disc is as thin as possible so that the cut is thin as possible so theres no issues when you seal it back up. You cut the bottom of the light where the turn signal is located. REMEMBER to remove the bulb and plug from the socket before you use the dremel. Lol. Once that's done you yank the amber lens out, and simply silicone the cuts so no water gets in or anything. Like I said, I'll post pics tomorow because I can't explain instructions if my life depended on it.
First hatch to reply. That's the hotness. Keep up the good work.

Since the lens is clear, it will flash the color of whatever bulb you use.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
That looks really good. you should try it with amber led bulbs - then you get clear looking bulbs that flash bright amber so cops cant stop you.

Yeah those look good to me. I like, I like.

Lil lissa - Try getting ahold of Fallenhero ( think that's his name ) he made some clear signals similar to these but on our USDM tails.

great to found u all love the JDM tail lights.

just a kindly remind, if u cut the lights, seal it well and becare water vapour to go in.

I also suggest to use Amber bulbs or amber LED to get away from cops.
it doesn't matter if the turn signal is amber or not. it only has to be an eye catcher. there are so many cars out there that don't have amber turn signals. lincoln town car for example. it's running light is the turn signal also. i don't think it matters

Some states/countries require the turn signal to flash amber, so ppl should check locally to see what the laws are, just in case >wink.gif>
