Turbo a Geo? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #27361 24 posts Started by rudeboy3d
So I'm going through my local paper and checking out the car ads as usual... A $600 5 speed Geo is listed there. Kind of caught my attention, for whatever insane reason. Anyways, with my All-Trac leaving the casa, the 6th gen arriving begining of the month, and the van being sold, I was wondering...

I know its possible, but would it be worth it, to turbo a Geo, or other POS? I'm lookin for a car to have some fun with (in a "stupid fun" sense). Obviously, I am no mechanic, and I wouldn't want to f-up my Celica, so I am kind of thinking about getting a little shxtbox just to "trick out" and show up some of the local Civic jackasses.

I was also wondering if anyone else has ever had a "Dr. Frankenstein" idea like this, and if you actually went through with it, and what your results were.....

*Checks clock* 3:00 A.M. ........... Ahhhh, insanity never sleeps.

Yeah, a Geo what?

a turbo geo metro is actually pretty quick. Its super light, so any power you add to that 3 cylinder makes that thing fly. I knew a guy with a turbo metro and it could take a few names, definatly any 4 door civic with a muffler.

Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it...
You could do it...but then you would still be driving a geo...

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
you could buy a turbo that will fit your celica later. So when the geo blows up, you can transfer all the equipment back to the celica. But then agian, why waste money? Your better off using nos and spraying like crazy.
If you really like the Geo name, and want a fun fast car, then go with a Storm GSi. I had one of these. I went the all motor root with mine. It probably would have been better to go with a turbo, but one of my earlier mods was borr and high compression pistons.
Secondly, the geo metro is good in turbo 3 cylinder, but it's better in turbo 4 cylinder form. You and take the turbo engine out of a AWD turbo swift and put into one. I think they are AWD, I know there is a turbo modle. I've seen these things on the internet a few times. There's no doubt in my mind if you have a turbo 1.6 (I think size), pushing 200hp, you would fly in a Metro. I'm still considering getting one of these some day to do this. If there's an AWD swift, I'll just buy it and put Metro bumpers on it.
Third, if you want a good fast beater and you don't care the name, go with a Cavileer. These things are surprising fast with simple mods. And by mods I mean, strate pipe and home make CAI. I've ran againts these things at the local track, and they really surprise people. The local enduro and 4 cyclinder class champ drives a cavileer. But he's also the super stock V8 dirt track champ as well, so it could be the driver.

Anyhoo- DSM, if you want cheap and fast, get an awd dsm. But if you want to be sneaky, swap a 4g63 into an Omni. Also, a galant VR4 would be excellent. They're awd and have the dsm engine and look just like your everyday old school 4door.

dude, I'd so buy a Geo Storm or metro and put a turbocharged Suzuki Hyabusa engine in it. >wink.gif>

Great idea, I've seen one in a Mini and it and owned. But those engines aren't cheap.

A 4G63 is also one of the easiest motors to swap into an Excel, it' around $4,000 for everything including a suspension upgrade.
4k's a little high. How much are you figuering on the engine/tranny/ecu?

imagine the possibilities though. The engine here (or a nearly as powerful 750-100cc version will run less than 2k I'd guess. Couple that with a turbo kit for another few thousand and you have a11-12k RPM superbeast capable of 180 mph. >smile.gif>

Put that thing on a go-Cart fram and be prepared, lol.
go cart would never hook. Ever.

And I dunno about 180mph, the car would probably be drag limited.

Isn't nitrous cheaper and easier to install than turbo?

Then you can blow the engine and show us photos of the carnage.

Oh and 3cyl + n2o + bad engine mounts = even more hilarity.

Man, I wish i could find the link to the busa powered go cart.. I know Ghostdog has it, but I can't find it anywhere...

It never gets traction. >smile.gif>
For the earlier post about me not knowing how to spell, I usually run my posts through spell check before I post them, I just forgot.

That would be awsome to see that go-cart. My uncle has made some crazy dunbuggies. He had a 350 powered buggy a while back. He got rid of it. He talks about making a 454 buggy now. I think he's crazy. That much engine is just dumb on a buggy, but there's no point in trying to stop him. I should really go around his and my dads shops with a camera and post some of the crazy stuff we've got. Oh, about the Geo Metro, I forgot, but my has a FX model he's turning into a FF buggy. That, I believe, is also a waste. But I'd do the same anyway.

I think that a turbo geo would be great, go around wasting mustangs and other cars that look to be all that. there is no better kill then getting wasted by a geo beater.
The gixxercart was cool, it had a motor from a Mini.

a GEO can also come with a 7AFE motor
aka the CELICA ST MOTOR.......

so yes you can turbo it and be very fast....

i've seen a 9 sec geo b4
Yeah I was having random day dreams once and I own a 93 geo prizm. It has a 4A-FE in it, but the LSis have the 7A-FE (6th gen celica ST) in them. Im thinking that it really wouldnt be too much work to swap a 3S-GTE in if you really really wanted to lol, or If you did the swap in your 6th gen GT, you could swap your old 5s-fe into your geo you bought for 500 bucks or so and have it be decently fast. I think my prizms curb weight is 2300 Lbs
my friends actually got a 3cylinder geo metro thats hez in the midst of turboing it. He found a kit for like $600 or something like that for the entire turbo kit. He was originaly gonna plan on duing a 1.3L turbo motor swap from the swift 1.3T. But yea, the power to weight ratio is stupid on thouse things. There are like 20 guys running around the GTA right now runnin in geos and swifts and fireflys that are all souped up. Some of them look good but some of them are stupidly fast.

LMFAO... Yeah I called on it, it was a Prism after all. Sold too, damnit. lol. I like the Prisms cause they are friggin' Corollas. lol. As far as having a Celica engine in it, I disagree. It has the better Corolla engine in it. If it had a true Celica engine in it, it would have the 3SGTE... lol... I wish... >biggrin.gif>
