when i last got my brakes redone (brakepads replaced and rotors smoothened [cant remember the rite word for smoothened]) and when i brake a certain amount, something in my back right wheel pops, i think it's the caliper, but i dont kno what would cause that, was it not put on right? my 2 front ones also pop but only when i reverse, and when i get out of my car and release my brake, my front ones pop but only once cuz when i try to do it again it doesnt do it, anyone kno what the problem might be?

I have the same thing with my rear after the shop did my brakes. He said they have to adjust the parking brakes or something. did u touch ur parking brakes when u did ur brakes?

whats that mean? did i touch my parking brakes? i didnt do my brakes, a shop did, and i never touched them after i got it out of the shop, i just let them be.

man i guess me and u are on the same boat. Well i know for sure they adjusted my parking brakes cause i heard the boss tell the worker to do it. The dude at the shop told me I just need to adjust it back and it will be fine. It only happens when u reverse right and when the car has been sitting for like a few hours. And btw I havent fixed my problem and its been like 2 months it dont really pop as much as before.

all newer toyota's have that.... its in a service bulletin.

just cant remember where..... it is there though. Doesnt seem to happen with models 2000 and newer

your brakes are fine.... nothing to worry about, just annoying as hell

ummm, i dont think that when you brake they're suppose to pop, that doesnt sound normal to me, in fact ive never heard of this being normal on any car, my brakes never popped when i had my old brakes, i'm guessing theres either something wedged or theres air in the brake lines or something.

It might be your struts.

no, cuz they're beilstien gas struts, brand new, not even a year old

i was told by a toyota mechanic, that when the car goes in reverse and you apply brakes, it spring loads the brakes and adds more force on a certain side.... and vice versa.... when i upgraded my brakes and rotors, i didnt see that and the popping went away....

does ur brakes pop even if your not applying brakes? mines does it when im not applying brakes not it went away but now when I move forward sometimes it pops dont know what is going on.

my mech told me to adjust my e brake he said the brake is not disengaging. Dont know about u guys but mines started popping when the new guy in my shop adjust my sh^t right now for me its be ok cause i havent been pulling my e brake all the way.

uhh, iunno what's goin on
when i had my rears changed i got the same popping.
it would happen the first time i applies the brakes after switching a direction of driving...
aka pulling out of my garage in reverse, and then the first stop i do after pulling away...
it stopped in time. At the time i had no ckue and just figured the brake pads were a bit smaller than the caliper had them made to be, and the front and back movement would stretch them out/break them in...

A clicking type noise may be noticed when first applying the brakes after changing
vehicle travel direction ( Drive/Forward to Reverse, Reverse to Drive/Forward). This is a
normal noise caused by the required brake pad–to–caliper clearances. When the
direction of travel is changed, the brake pads may “shift” towards the new direction of
travel. When the brake pad contacts the caliper, a clicking noise may be heard.
To minimize this clicking noise, a disc brake caliper grease has been made available for
use during brake service/maintenance operations. Under normal usage conditions this
grease should be effective for a period of 6 months to 1 year.

that grease is used ALL the time...it hides poor brake installs too...
I wonder why mine just plain stopped though
