clicking sound - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #27284 9 posts Started by soven
My passengers are telling me that there is a constant ticking noise coming from the rear left of my car.

It is not noticeable to me and only the back passengers could hear it. it is just a clicking sound that speeds up when i travel faster.

Any idea what it could be?
OMG! The same thing happens to me! Except for me, it's on the back passenger side. I can hear it. It sounds like the wheel or something. I don't know what it could be. It usually happens when I run the engine hard. Kinda scary.
Stones in the tire treads? Thats what I get after I drive over fine gravel roads.

Will check wheel bearings and rear link bushings(how to check this?).

Struts/shocks do not squeak or anything except in themorning. tyres are new. Checked the jack.

Hmmm...I've had this same problem for a while in my car. Don't really consider it a real problem per se, just something that i'll fix eventually. I'll have to check it out, glad to hear that somebody else but me has it too though.

This sound emanates from the strut assembly that is worn out
Jack the wheel and move it up and down vigorously you maybe able to simulate thenoise. As for checking wheel bearings with the hand brake offafter jacking hold the wheel on two opposite sides and try shaking left right if they are wornout a knocking sound will be heard
