TRD DISCONTINUED - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #27202 19 posts Started by dmorST95
Ok so i go to the local Toyota Parts Store and pick up my fuel tank door. i ask the employee if they sell the TRD shortshifter and he replied as follows: " No i dont. and as of yesterday, TRD is no longer in business. They didn't get sold out but Toyota bought them." (or something like that). Anyway since they aren't selling the shorftshifter, is anybody selling it? or nowhere to purchase such a beauty?
Yeah thats what i found out a few weeks ago when i was trying to get TRD springs and retainers >frown.gif>

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte
yeah looks like a lot of trd parts have been recently discontinued. can toyotadesmoines clear up as to what parts are still available?
I just ordered the shifter from toyota Des moines about a week and half ago and Jason told me that TRD got absorbed by Toyota and it was a new part # and like 20 cents more. Ups just rang my door bell there is a box I'll be back in 5. Yep just got it and it is sweet!

I'm pretty sure TRD Japan will be around, I mean they still make the Arista and Altezza.

sorry, i had to...
I know TRD doesn't make cars, but the Arista and Altezza are still being made, not to mention the tC and those other Scions, then we got the LF-A, there's also the Vitz, Tacoma and a whole other load of cars, then parts for the Supra, MR2, MR-S, Celica, etc. so yeah TRD will probably stay in one form or another.
i think toyota has its head up its ass these days.

i have a feeling that my next car will be a subaru, nissan or somthing else

Alright I checked with Scott Clark Toyota and they said that yes TRD has been bought by Toyota and it's currently changing part numbers that is why the parts aren't availible. The parts rep. said that the same thing happened when TRD got bought by a racing company a while back, the products were pulled renumbered and resold again about two years after the company was first sold. The rep. also said expect it to be about a year before TRD is availible again but it will be sold as a factory part so it won't cost as much, basically Toyota won't act as a middle man anymore bringing down the cost, that is the whole reason Toyota purchased TRD is because they were buying the parts at retail and not wholesale so it was expensive, soon they will be able to sell the parts much cheaper and probably develop parts for more of the USDM vehicles.
i got a similar reply from the TRD rep in charge of their contingency racing program
