changing the color on my car - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #27110 11 posts Started by Hart1583
Well, after the long painstaking process of bringing my car back to life from total'd state, the kit is back molded and everything. I am presented with the option of painting my car a different color. The only thing is, they want to charge extra to paint the white doorjams the new color. So, would white doorjams be ok on a diff color car or not(who really sees your door jams anyways?) Anyways, here's a pic of my car. What color do you see it being?

It's noticable, and screams that either you're cheap or don't pay attention to details.
Ok, I just talked to em and they said theyd only add 100bux to the cost, so I WILL have the jams painted. What color guys?
Gun metal, with a subtle gold flake......

believe me that looks so good >smile.gif> i saw a solar over here the other day in it, it's look awsome................

with that said you'll probably go for blue like "perfict Blue"

I love a good, rich metallic blue, say a half a shade darker than the Subaru WRX blue.

Unless you're getting a complete re-paint, including colour-appropriate primer, remember having the white colour underneath will influence the look of the new paint job, probably about a shade lighter than the paint chip.

Before you take it in, disassemble the car as much as you can. Bumpers, lights, signals, trim, door panels, weatherstripping, sill plates -- basically anything that touches the exterior colour. That way when they paint you'll get a better job with cleaner seams, and the paint will end underneath those trim pieces, and therefore the border will be invisible when you put it all back together.

One question -- engine bay colour?
Le Mans Sunset - beautiful orange-gold colour of Nissan (code A17) used on 350z.
I love it and it is what I am going to have in next two weeks. B)

i have a question re engine bay colour ?

can you paint enought of it with the engine in situ to make it worth doing......... or is it worth just leaving !!!!!!!!!!! to save taking the engine out ?????????????

I am having the whole car repainted and I leave engine bay as it was - too much mess with taking the engine out. Of course, it has impact on price. But I think that original silver engine bay will not be bad.

I actually like it white. Cant go wrng with blues or silvers. Only semi-black looks natural in doorjams.
