Funny thing happened - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #2574 15 posts Started by Jussimple
This was kind of weird, I kind of think it was partly my fault. I'll run you guys down on what happened.

I was driving through the base about to head out to the car wash, to give the celi a once over, when I see a silver celica off to the left pulling out of a barracks parking lot. I admit I was alittle heavy on the gas when I approached his car but I slowed down alot before I got close to him, he probably thought I was a crazed driver. I called out to him before he could pull out. He turned and followed me back into the parking lot. I started by talking to him about a local car club that me and some friends are starting. He gave me a kind of blank look when I started talking about engines and mods. I then told him about this site and how not that many people love the 6gc and he would find most of them here plus all he wanted to know about his car. He said he just bought the car today and was going to drive it around, hint he never responded about anything I said. He then said that he likes what I did to the car and said he was in a rush, then shook my hand and took off. I kind of felt that he thought I was going to throw a sales pitch into the conversation. All I wanted to do was make a friend with someone who had the same interest in cars. It was weird how he just listened to what I said and never really responded. The whole meeting lasted about 15 minutes but it left me with kind of a jackass feeling.

Just wanted to share this awkward experience and see if anyone else had something similar happen to them.
thats the difference between cars with a low enthusiast base, and a large enthusaist base... i almost never wave or go up to another 6gc, or 5th gc, or even a 7th for that matter unless they have some pretty major mods. people just dont realize there are others out there who enthusize (i think i made that up >wink.gif> ) over the car... where as if i drive our mustang just 10 miles, theres atleast 5 people waving to me or talking to me, doesnt matter age, race, gender, what have you... its just a sense of common interest and a massive family... something the celica unfortunatly lacks >frown.gif>

Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them allNo but I don't buy itLike anything you do, as anyone you areCause I'm...Ten Speed, of God's Blood & Burial
Well.....jackass moments, definately >biggrin.gif> But not too many among car enthusiasts, especially after i joined this site. I've always loved cars, but i used to be kinda clueless as to how things worked performance-wise in cars. Thanks, 6gc!! >wink.gif>

3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting.
That's how I felt when I talked to this chick with a 6th gen. She was like 25 and probably thought I was some kinda strange younger guy. (wait, don't.... nevermind.)
did she have nice boobies?
maybe he was pissed at you and was gonna curse you out or something but then you were all nice and stuff so he felt strange and just took off????
I have to say that even thought you think there is not much of a following for the 6G celicas i gotta say that over here in RI everyone that has one waves to each other, just on the premise that they are so rare over here. Seriously you hardly ever see them out here. Ive seen like 5. Anyway i mean were not like the corvette crowd that stop and talk everytime they see each other but we do give a friendly ave or rev if we see each other. Its kind of an unspoken kinship.

I see at least 5-8 celis all the time in my city. Most are like in their 30s or 50s, so i dont even bother talking to them. There's like three 6 gens at my work place; we work different shifts, so we never really had the chance to get in contact with each other.
i talk to every 6gc owner that i see. the oldest ive talked to was about 35 years old, but he was really cool guy
I was driving around one day and saw 3 other 6th gens and we all waved. But most of the time nobody cares.

I talked to that guy again. It turns out I did spook'em. He told me that he thought I was a crazed street racer. While not entirely true >biggrin.gif> , I can see why. He said I overwhelmed him. He really didn't know that much about cars and just felt like he didn't have much to add to all my babbling. Sort of like what I'm doing now >rolleyes.gif> . Anyway, he's cool and I directed him here.

naww, only talk to people who have mods on their cars, the rest dont really care or dont know much.
Yea, personally if It was the first day I bought my 6th GEN and somebody came up to me I'd be a little spooked. Not as much as that guy, but I mean I just didn't know anything about anything then. Spouting off engine terms and what not, that can be intimidating.
there is only a few 6gc in my town, none of them are modded whatsoever. So i cant wait until i have the only 6gc that is modded
