One lucky auction and a 1300 mile trip to L.A. and back... gas was cheaper than shipping >smile.gif>

I didn't take a closeup of the drivers side headlight, but it's got a gap of about 5/8ths of an inch from the headlight to the actual hood.

I've moved the hood around as much as I can, and it's aligned perfect, but it doesn't drop down as much as I think it should.

Is it the rubber "hood stops" (can't think of a better way to describe em) underneath that are keeping it from going down all the way or what?

Anybody know?

It could be, some have a thread on them so you can twist them to raise or lower them, if not just cut em, they are cheap to replace if you **** it up.
Oh......nice hood by the way. looks sweet.
if that doesnt work you could always opt for some hood pins.. I dont know if it will help, but I think it would hold it down tighter and close that gap

Hey... it's a VIS hood... they're supposed to be damn close to perfect.

Aye! They charged me CA sales tax and a $5 handling fee, but other than that, it came out to under $45 for the hood itself.
wat a good deal!
Who did you buy it off of on ebay? I wonder if it's the same guy I just got a hood for hella cheap from.

Link is in first post, it's a business called Quick Drop that sells things on eBay for private parties who apparently can't figure out how to list something, much to their loss and my gain. >smile.gif> When I showed up finally at their store they had so much JUNK and alot of car parts like bumpers, wheels, etc... there was a replica of the Titanic that was about 7 foot long behind the counter... lol.

I bid $125 for it about 15 seconds before the auction ended, but nobody outbid me.

I put the hood in the back (wouldn't fit with the latch down, but SOOOO close) and drove it over to a nearby AutoZone and installed it there, then drove back from LA to Utah with it on. I threw the old one in a dumpster after putting my foot through it.

OK I figured it out finally.

The hood hinge when holding a heavy OEM hood rests on top of a gasket along the rear of the engine bay, right at the firewall, fits just great because the stock hood is heavy and is weighed down.

The carbon fiber hood weighs considerably less, and the gasket acts similar to a doorstop and props the hood up more than it should.

A pair of scissors did the trick, I just cut the gasket just enough to let the hinges drop down more, and now the hood fits just about perfect.

No hood pins for me, yay. >smile.gif>
There is one on ebay now for $1.
But better be quick.... >biggrin.gif>
