Still can't find a hole in the firewall - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #2523 25 posts Started by Delta_Phoenix
I've read the earlier threads and tried to find the hole in my firewall to run wire through, but I can't find it. Can someone post a pic of exactly where it is?
what I did was take a sharp knife, cut a very small hole in rubber at the base of the steering column, where it goes through the firewall and got the wire through that way. then put silicone around the hole to keep any moisture out. You have to do this from the inside of your car. hope this helps. >wink.gif>
I was trying to stay away from cutting anything. Only because I've heard that there is a hole somewhere to run the wire that is near the gas pedal. I still haven't found it though...
Yea I heard that too, never found it and said screw it. you really don't need to cut anything, just poke a hole through the rubber. The hole in the rubber doesn't need to be very big at all. get a wire hanger, straighten (sp) it and tape the wire on the end very securly, and put it through the hole. go under the hood and pull the hanger very slowly through the hole. the wire gets really tight going through the hole which helps to seal it back up. >wink.gif>
It's no big deal dude, the steering shaft hole is the best way to go.
The myth about the other hole was said to be there for the clutch, it's plugged for those of us who have auto, but I wasn't able to find it either. After much frustration, I reluctantly drilled through the firewall.
I was checking out the firewall on the inside on the driver's side to try and find the hole that everyone says is near the gas pedal. At first I saw nothing, but upon closer inspection with a flashlight, I see a hole! I was excited so I rushed in to get a clotheshanger. I bent it straight and wiggled it through the hole. Sunlight! I push through some more and get out to see where the clotheshanger is under the hood. Turns out that it wasn't the hole I thought it was and it's not likely that I'm going to be able to fit a wire through it... looks like I'm hopeless!
me i have a 95 st there is NO HOLE! i had to drill... my amp power wire is pretty large 4 gauge wire so i had no choice in the matter i drilled above my gas pedal worked like a charm >biggrin.gif>
yo did you look where i told you? Right behind the glove compartment there is that rubberish boot, slice a hole in it and run it behing the glove comparment then down the side of the car, follow the clear tube with the red and blue stripes..that's the rear windshield washer fluid tube >wink.gif>
i will get some pics of this mystery hole...it is real.

pop the hood, driver side. like 5 inches down. it is the perfect size for 4 guage wire. it comes out to the upper left of the dead pedal. I have a auto 98 gt hatch. there is no rubber thing or silicone or anything.

there is another hole.

maybe he doesn't have it because he has an st. i didn't know what he had.
the hole on the right side is fine if you want wires running all over you engine compartment. Personally, I like the clean look. The only part of my amp power wire that is visible, is where it hooks to the battery. >wink.gif>

I got it like that, its a southern car, and you can also pressure wash it with some engine degreaser... just make sure that you dont go near the alternator. Yeah that **** is clean right? just like the rest of my car (except for my fender)
