Factory amp wiring harness info - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #2513 7 posts Started by runriot95
Okay, I've got some info for anyone looking to replace their factory stereo but has the factory amp to contend with.

The factory wiring is located UNDERNEATH the amplifier and is attached by a plastic plug to the bottom of the amp. The factory wiring plugs into a big blue connector which then runs wires to the side of the amp. So you CAN use the standard 2 plug Toyota harness adaptor that's sold everywhere. >smile.gif> That's the good news. The bad news is that you have to remove a lot of trim to get to it. >mad.gif>

I'll be putting in my new stereo in a month or so and I'll post a how-to on it complete with pictures.
Great! Can't wait to see how it turns out.

I jsut did mine, adn it was a pain in the a$$. Took some time too..2 hours
I did it in the winter in the cold a** garage. It took me 6 hours to do because we thought that we had the wrong harness. We couldn't find where to take it out. I think a lot of us have had this problem installing new steroes. The celica is the only car that I know of, that you have to do so much work just to get to the harness.
I did mine but i was too stupid to remove the trim. I just got my hands in there and worked the harness back and forth for like 15 minutes untill it came out. Cut my hand twice on a screw but at least i got it done right? >biggrin.gif>
forget all that.

i just ran new higher quality speaker wire to all the speakers...it was easier than taking all that stuff out.
