Keyless Enty Power Trunk Help - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #24632 21 posts Started by Cutrara
I'm installing a keyless entry system in my Celica and it has an option for a power trunk release for my hatch. I know if you put in a power trunk solenoid, you need a dash switch to active it which renders the cable-pull on the floor useless.

My question is this: Can I install the power trunk solenoid so I can pop the hatch remotely but still use the cable-pull on the floor and skip the dash switch? I just like the cable-pull.

An excellent write up, helped me a ton. I pulled power from my antenna and kept blowing the 10 amp fuse. Put a 15 amp in and everything works fine now.

I'm happy to see you guys like my how-to smile.gif I haven't check it lately, do the links still work ?

Glad the slightly larger fuse solved the prob Scott.

I remember when I first installed it in my Celica, I would pop that hatch like 10 times a day biggrin.gif

Yea, I almost go out looking for reasons to pop the trunk. I'd still like to run a dufferent power source back there so I can put the 10 amp fuse back in.
I tapped into my hatch light's power source and put a 10 amp fuse on it. I got pics of the wire if you need it.

Isn't that switched so it's only on when the back is open?

Yes, but a switch has two terminals and one of them has constant power and I used a wiring diagram to tell me which wire has constant power.

I suggest we take an archive copy of the how-to just incase the other site chooses to remove or delete it.

It appears that this is just what has happened. Does anyone have a like to the original how to????

Thanks!
Hi Batman722, I have been watching the 6GC forums for a while before I bought my car, and I like your work wink.gif

I would like to make a remote boot (I'm Australian- no trunks for us tongue.gif) release, and it sounds like you how-to would be invaluable. However, the link is dead. Do you still have a copy on your computer that you could perhaps send or upload again?

Thank you,
