hey i bought alpine components and had them installed in my car sounds great, but they dont sound very loud. I got a Stock head unit and whenever i shift the balance from balanced to the front they sound weak. Seems like my back speakers are playing louder than my front is it. What do you think is causing this..

Theyre going to sound much better if you have them running off a seperate amplifier. Your back speakers probably are playing louder; component sets usually like a bit of power going to them, and theyre most likely not as sensitive as your stock speaker. What speakers are they?

He said it, I have the same thing, I just have the gain int he front turned up, il some time buy an amp for them.

Do you mean you have your fade function turned to the front on your car Doug? Gain adjustments are found on amplifiers and are used to match the amplifier input voltage to the decks preout voltage.

as everyone else has said.... you want to power your components off an amplifier... not a HU.. components take more power to get "alive"..... an amp will surely fix this problem.. you also may have the wires switch.... make sure pos is to pos... from the cross over to amp, tweeter and midbass.... fading them to the components wouldnt really be a good fix... you will still be better off gettin an amp for them... you can get an amp for em for less than a hundred... you dont need a 4 channel amp to power em... a small 2 channel amp would be fine.. around 60 - 100rms(each channel)..... i just finished installing an old school Autotek amp to my front coaxials(Kicker DX60's), theres a noticeable difference.. from the Alpine 7893 HU compared to the amp... as far as i know ive read that the amp Should be giving each speaker around 30rms..... i still need to do some tweeking but so far so good...

i have type R components mike... ok so its basically dont have enough power getting to them so i need to buy a small amp and amp the components. All the speakers in our car front and back are 6 1/2 right?

Yeah, you would be happier with an amp. I did a quick search, and it says those speakers take up to 70wrms. If you could find a decent 50x2 amp, that would work perfectly (dont go by the 350w max that it has listed haha.) And like scarrell said, check to make sure your speakers are in phase. 6 1/2's work for us, but theres a good chance you'll need a bracket of some sort to hold the speakers in... easily made with a sheet of abs plastic or half inch mdf (3/4 is a bit too big for the front speakers, the edge will be pushing at the door panel.) The only way it seems to know what speakers are in our cars is to start taking off panels and seeing for yourself. Looks like you already have the fronts installed, so pop open the rear panel and check it out if you plan on upgrading your rears.

i havent pondered to the back so i cant help you.... i can only see some older Pioneers that came with the car... they are doin fine so i havent really felt like changing them... but yeah im glad i got that amp hooked up.... it isnt nothin special, but i just wanted to see if it worked and most of all what it could do... its doin a good job though.... certainly not audiophile quality but ohwell...but lets get back on topic >>

my car came with a stock headunit, and i would turn the volume up to like 20-30 and i still couldnt hear my music on the highway. i put in my alpine headunit (CDM-9827) and now my music bumps (even with stock speakers which i will be changing out when i get a few more paychecks) i can hear my music with the volume set to 6 on the highway, and volume at 10 can be audible outside of the car easily. my solution: get an aftermarket headunit, even if it is not the best, it will look a lot nicer and sound better. but hey, an amp will help also =) even more so when you get an afetrmarket receiver!
