Difference between 94/5 and 96+ - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #23933 12 posts Started by Zoiks
Im looking at getting a ZR 6th gen celica but Im not sure what to get.
I can pick up a 94/95 model for around A$14500 but a 96+ is looking at around A$17000+

So what exactly changed between the 94/95 and the 96+

So far all i have gotten is
: new front and back kit
: passenger airbag [Option]
: abs [Option]
: interior trim colour
: speed sensitive power steering (unconfirmed)

anyone wish to help out on this list.

Also as one last thing, when i get my celica, im gonna want a gt4 kit. Will it fit to both year brackets and where would i best get from? A wreckers or a bodykit shop?

Cheers

Yes, a GT-FOUR kit will basically fit. Note that a 96+ has a 3 post spoiler, while the GT-FOUR has a lifted standard two post. So if you go for the GT-FOUR spoiler, you'll need to patch up the holes in the middle.

As for the front bumper, I believe that you'll neet to cut the rebar in half for it to fit.

rebar in half? Whats a rebar. Sorry for my ignorance
rebar = reinforcement bar. see the bar that the lowest... that's the JDM bar. i had it installed but you'll need to make your own brackets or get the GT4 brackets
if someone would be kind enough to post the USDM bar you'll be able to tell the difference.

Well I drive a 94 and have both ABS and a passenger side airbag, so you can cross those off your list.
he is in Australia, thing are a bit different out there.

ABS I believe is an option, not standard.

actually this is rebar:

Rebar is the wrong word, Re-enforcement bar or bumper is what should be used.

I understood him to be saying that ABS and pass. side airbag weren't available on the 94/95... but if he just meant not standard, then I have no idea.
yeah i ment standard if possible.
Im just trying to work out if its worth the extra couple of K for a newer model. Considering im a student its gonna be a bit hard for me to find the couple of grand.

On a side note i found a front clip of a celica with a 3sge on it for A$2200

Thanks for that clarification!
ok I added changes to the original post for optional. What about the power steering? Anything different in the breaks. Is the interior trim really that much better? Anything else?
