Well my 97 celi's auto tranny just died yesterday. Had it towed to a shop that i haven't heard of based on the reccomendation of the Tow guy. He said aamco is crap, but anyway. The guy calls me and tells me my tranny is shot. ITs a wonder my fiance made it back from her job yesterday 1.5 hour drive. Anyway, the tranny he is getting me is straight from japan. he said he has contacts with a guy over there to get hims parts.

I am going to talk to him when I pick up the car about how good of a contact he has. Hoefully I might be able toget some cool stuff from him and maybe hook all of us up... Wish luck on this one. I will find out tuesday

don't want to question your mechanic but what would be the purpose of importing a 7a tranny from Japan? while I'm sure you could get one for next to nothing shipping would be enough to ofset any small savings ..

i'm just thinking the guy wants to say "it's from japan it's $$$" when it came for cheap >>

He explained to me that he wouls rather use on from japan b/c he knows for a fact that they have hte low mileage b/c of japans laws on high mileage vehicles. I somewhat trust him, but its a full warranty and seems to be the cheapest around my area.

I hope that he can because I Don't want ot get my hopes up about the parts then have them dashed..lol

Well I will talk to the guy either wednesday or thrusday. Depends on when I can get another person to ride with me to the shop

hmm...as of August of 2005, my buddy will be over there for several years so i'll have a contact out there as well >> i'll keep it updated for when i order parts to save on shipping for some of you...

well turns out he can only get engines and transmissions. I don't think he knows much about the demand for them thouhg
