If the airbags deployed then it's a serious shunt. And the airbags themselves are damn expensive to replace.

At least you're still with us man, could have been worse.

JDM ST205Blitz Spec NUR Exhaust, somewhere over $1000Needing another one 18000 miles later, bloody annoying.

Sorry to hear about the car. >frown.gif>

If you get us some pics, we can probably give you an idea of whether your mechanic is BSing you or not. When the air bags deploy, however, usually cars, especially our aging Celicas, are considered totalled.

But if you think your mechanic is just saying that, you can always buy the car back from insurance for cheap and part it out, or fix it if you're inclined, or whatever.

New Toyota project coming soon...
Sry to hear bout the bad news man. I agree with what Coomer said, post some pics for us. You would probably make more money parting it out then you would from insurance, pending on how much they say your car is worth.

If it's the same as up here in Canada he can get the money from insurance and then re-buy the car from the junkyard to part out or fix up. My one friend had a Toyota Paseo that he totalled. Insurance gave him like $7000, he bought it and fixed it up for under $4000.
Well at least I dont feel so alone and bad now, some A*&hole let the wind take his shopping cart halfway across the parking lot at Lowes and smashed the nose of mine, has a 3 inch break at the headlight and scraped all the way across. even parked way the hell out by myself, all that did was let the cart get a run at me...lesson for the day - park out by yourself AND upwind...
damn bro.... sad to hear bout that...yea like they say, you can either part it out, or like me, fixed it up..

I actually park as close to a curb as possible, uphill, and upwind. The proximity to the curb reduces door dings and protects from stray carts from that side.
