Just lowering springs - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #23091 9 posts Started by Mike
I was looking at the Eibach Sportlines because I jsut want to lower my car to be flush with the 17" wheels I'm buying, my friend advised me that getting only springs is a bad idea... is this true? What will happen if I only install lowering springs and nothing else?

Its fine, thats what I'd say most of the people here have if they want to lower their car.
that was the first thing I to my car and no problems at all
no problems.. but expect your shocks to die faster and a rougher ride.

what he said.. If you donmt replace the shocks, not only are you stil going to be riding on old warn shocks, but there going to have a lot more compresion ont hem and give out very quick. not a smart idea. when you replace the springs, replace the shocks as well, it might take an extra 20 min and $200.

Id say go for somthing good yet cheap. like kyb-gr-2's. I have those an sportlines and the ride is great and all of it only ran me $400. You might wanna replace some bushigs ans such.. i didnt do that but will prolly go back and do it soon, seing as how i have 142k on everything else.
go with the bilsteins via ebay for 269, 29 shipping, if you want a real stiff ride and a lifetime warranty!
I did eibach Pro's with kyb struts front and back at the same time

if you want that flush look you need coilovers springs only drop you so much

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

yeap!!!! this is what happent ti me after 2 years with only springs..... our cars are heavy and with the 17's the shocks realy do some heavy work! but i thing it's ok to use them if you don't drive like a maniac, like me >biggrin.gif>
it depends on your how old ur struts are. stock struts on a 94 or 95 would probly blow after a while with more then a 1.5 inch drop. happined to me allready
