what do they mean by "filters"......how do you change it??

where is the plug thats in the third pic? just the plug that plugs into the back of the clock?
i guess so. ill see if i can get to doing this today being easter and all.
are clocks aren't that complicated, u just take it out pop the little brown thing off, if u leave it off your clock is now white, after that u can use either oracel transparent vynel like i did, or notebook tabs to change to what every u want.

my click is teal with the filter off, which is why i put the guide up. if it was white then there would be no need for this topic.
it must change from model to model then i did mine on friday and it came out super good and real easy.

yeah mine is a light green/teal without the brown thing. I had a look at my clock plug just then and its different to whats in the pic. mine has 5 holes, but only has 4 wires (only 4 connections on the clock too). the green one is second from the left. would pulling the green still work?

and also, is there a way to remove the wire from the plug, without damaging it? theres some clips things on the top but i dont know how they work..
I'm going to go try this right now. I'll give my show and tell later. Good luck to the rest of you dudes! >biggrin.gif>

wow what is this...the 6th topic on changing the clock color? lol thats cool though Ill just add my .02 again hehe! Batman & I both used blue stage lighting gel (a thin film of plastic) on our clocks. I was lucky like some of the other people on here & had the super white clock once the lenz was removed...(the picture is w/ the film of course lol)

Unfortunately I have the brown lens. This makes it kinda difficult because when you put in the filters it dims the light. I may need to disconnect that wire that dims it with the lights. Also, I haven't seen it during the day...I hope I can still see it.

I am gonna give it a try and disconnect my wire tomorrow. I will let you know what happens. KA-BOOM !!!!!!

blaque, you take the lens off. you dont keep it on when you change the clock color or the lens will dim it (like in your case) and make the color not be what you want.
i just did it. its much better than the teal i had. i ended up using 1 purple layer under 2 layers of blue. that seemed to have good lighting still and have a nice blue clock.
I just cut my wire. It works perfect. No more dimming. I am happy about this mod and it took about 2 min >biggrin.gif>

just cut the green wire? does your plug look like the one in the pic (with 5 wires out the back, and the green in the middle)? my plug loks diff. it has only 4 wires out the back but 5 holes, and the green is 2nd from one end (not in the middle). :S
im probably gonna try this, hopefully I'll have the white clock ^_^

Hey, thanks rocky. I did end up taking it off, but I din't want to just leave it like that, without anything solid to cover it. So I got a piece of clear plastic that was lying around the house, cut it, and used the oven to soften it so that I could shape it to fit where the original brown lens used to go. Then I laid it in and used three spots of glue with the gluegun to hold it in...now the clock is white. Then i put in a whole bunch of blue cellophane wrapping and a little bit of purple. Now it looks great. Even in the daytime the clock lens is blue, I think it looks pretty cool.

I'll put up some pics soon so that you guys can see.

Thanks everyone!:D

yes we have 4 wires. Cut the green. It works normally except it doesn't dim when you put the lights on.

ok thanks batman. i dont want to go cutting any wires im not sure about >tongue.gif>
i wonder what year celica gets the white clock?

i want to do this, but i fear i will have the nasty light green clock color.
that was the point of this thread haha. for those of us who have the green clock (such as me) the guide will tell you what to put over the clock for your desired color. 2 blue layers over 1 purple layer over my green (teal with no filter) clock made it a nice clean blue.
maybe this is a dumb question. what kind of clock does my car bring? i dont know if they were made randomly or if specific clocks were made for specific years. because from what i understand, some clocks just come white with a green filter, and some clocks shine green with no filter. mine is a 94 st coupe. i want a standard blue color for mine. not light and not too dark. just like a royal blue. im guessing if its like rocky's with no filter, i would use 2 blues over 1 purple. but if it's white...what do i use? a couple of blue layers??? and how do i know if my clock has a filter? are these dumb questions??? lol.
all clocks have filters. mine was a teal clock with a brownish lens to make it a greenish color. some are white with a different filter. if you have a white clock, then yes, use a few blue layers only.
mine was White with Brown filter.

i think that some of the wiring that is back there should look like that picuture. i am really sure that mine does.

nope, our clocks are diff. wiring. they only have four wires, but cutting the green wire still stops it dimming when your headlights come on.
