I bought a short shifter, only the metal thing.
But i can't get it installed >> >>

I have read Coomers How-to article http://www.6gc.net/index.php?action=howto&itu=62

But i need some clearance on some point.

what to do, or i'm i doing it incorrect?

Pull those things straight up. They are tough but they will come out. You might want to use a needle-nose vise grips to grab the little edge on top and then pull straight up. Also, make sure you look at exactly where they go back in. Take a picture when you take one out so you can tell when you are putting the new one back in.

Now i have got another problem >>
how do i get that plastic thing open?

there's a little metal pin that prevents me from opening the thing to get out the -shifter/metal stick.

You take a punch and hit it out from the other side with a hammer. The other pin with the spring on it has to come out too, I took a screw driver and pushed on the side with the spring, then stuck the screwdriver under the washer thing on the other side and carefully pry it off, careful cuz you have to reuse it.

Thanks Rjb23, the first pin is out of the housing

i'm afraid that i wil break something with removing the pin with spring on it.

I marked some spots, maybe you can show me were i have to put my screwdriver exactly?

Behind this ring?




Or on one of the collored spots?

Haha .. you had all the same problems, thats why it took me a few hours, to figure out how to get these things off without breaking them..

The plastic things, just use a pair of pliars and grip, then pull.

Thanks mate that did the trick!

I'm busy with it since 12 o'clock (thats 5 hours) at the moment and i'm still enjoying it.
The new shifter is in the housing, and i'm gonna install it now in the car.
i will post some pics later on.

I could have used this thread a week ago when i put mine it, I just played it by ear (major thanks to coomers how-to) I read and re-read durring the install. but yeah thats how ya do it. my kit maid it really hard to install the spacers, the new bults where longer then the stock but not long enough to make it easy, the hardest part was pushing down on the bult and truning wile trying to line it up, and get the threads to grip. just an fyi when you install it in the car, (if you have not yet)

I experienced that shifting goes a lot heavier! then before.

I just drove for 30 minutes, but it is really difficult to get in the 5th gear or Reverse.
