alright first off since you cannot hear the subs for yourself you have to look at the specs like how low they get to how high and the weight usually the better the sub the heavier the sub. JL is a good name though but make sure your not buying thier low end products.
my alpines work really good but only go down to 87 hertz so yeah... what was it 27 hertz that is a good thing anyway sorry i could not be of more help adios.

go somewhere that sells JL stuff and see if u can hear them i know there are a few dealers around me that sell them

dude trust me keep the pioneers. even if you are trading 10's for 12's. keep the 10's
