Stop Wind Noise - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #21450 13 posts Started by hs2g
Everyone out there with convertables, Have you notice that when you go above 40MPH you can hear wind whistling through the windows.

My does it and I tried to put tape around the windows edge and it helps, but now I don't want to be driving around with a taped window. So is there any insulation or any other options?
It's a vert, you'll never fix that.

Sorry, jus the truth. A certain amount of it is actually wind going over the canvas top >smile.gif>
There are things you can do. The most productive solution is to take it to a place that specializes in convertible tops and have them replace all the seals and adjust the alignment. I get very little wind noise in mine.

I have some luck with opening and the closing the windows if you have opened that door. It doesnt eliminate the problem, but it helps a bit for me.

But as said, its a vert, you have to live with it.

Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it...

This actually always helps me too
I will also add that the top has an adjustment where it clamps down. I had the same wind problem and adjusted the top and that helped a bit. i actually cant hear the wind because my stereo is so fooking loud.....even with the top down >wink.gif>

Its on the 2 hooks that attach the top to the frame. they are threaded
OMFG, if it weren't raining I'd go out andplay with those things right now
I guess the question is answered...
lol, i couldnt adjust mine, i noticed when i bought the car that it was possible, but the threads were all rusted so i just added cardboard to the hooks for it to clamp harder and it worked.

the window wind is unfixable if your seals are bad, and oh yea.....its a vert:P
yeah i noticed that too in my car on the way home. its not too bad though, i just turned the music up and thats okay. it was annoying at first but ill get used to it.. lol

the stock stereo is a piece, i think. compared to my ole beloved Eagle Talon's. then again hatches make music sound all the much better
