how about a used Subaru WRX.... should be fun and functional
i have a friend with a G20 and it is pretty nice. i also would like the s40 as a family car too, im trying to make my mom get one. the 1.8t too. >tongue.gif>

If its verse a 2000-G20 or a 2000 s40 go with the g-20. Looks a lot nicer imo. If your looking for brand new the 2005 s40 t5 awd is awosme.
2000-2003 model maximas are nice and practical for a family. And it looks sporty too.

For reliability and comfort, you can't go wrong with the Accord.

well the thing is, its for my wife anyway. so i need something practical and affordable and when i do get to take the "family" car out i don't really want that family car feeling when i drive it. you inputs are really good, and keep em comming. i need to keep my options open. thanks!!!

I love my WRX and it has enough room to fit my friends in the back. It is very functional and very sporty, plus the potential is amazing in case you wanted to do something with it in the future.

stay away from a European car if your lookin for a cheap family car..cuz remember there parts and labor is expensive.

Couple things to remember..low miledge, reliablity, and extended warranty which covers the necc stuff

whats the last couple cars u have on ur list ?
mitsubishi diamante. my fam just got one ('97) and it feels like a limo compared to the celi. and its a v6 and you could find them for pretty cheap. very spacious!
how about a Mazda6s Hatchback? I saw it at the LA auto show and thats gonna be the next car I own >biggrin.gif> The trunk is ginormous and so is the interior space. Maybe im just a hatchback junkie but I had some fun driving a 04 6s sedan and its alot more responsive than an accord or camry. Interior noise is a bit loud tho if it matters >tongue.gif>
